Adapter to connect Coleman Roadtrip LX to Sunseeker LP?

We just purchased a Coleman Roadtrip LX grill ("the blue one"). It uses the small canisters by default, but there is an LP hose + regulator available to connect it to a regular 5-gallon LP canister. What kind of adapter do we need (if any) to connect it directly to the RV's LP tank? Thanks in advance!

somewhere on here I got all the parts list to "modify" the stock regulator for the Coleman... this is shown in the first picture... unhook the connector ath the left of the pic and add a hose for a full low pressure setup (similar to pic 2)...

The second picture shows amazon listing for a modified tip to the standard regulator and a hose to connect to the low pressure outlet in your trailer

the third picture is the adapter hose for connecting the stock regulator to a 20# LP tank...

there are many posts here on how to do it. there are many youtube videos about how to do this. there is a company that sells kits with all the parts needed to do this. i think their name is torc but i may be wrong.

basically you do the following:
take the part that screws into the grill off the existing regulator / tube assy
put a quick connection fitting on the part that you took off. now you can screw it into the grill and have a quick connect fitting sticking out of the grill

use a propane extension hose to connect to the quick connect on the grill and to the rv quick connect
put another quick connect on the existing regulator where you took the previous part off. now you can use the green disposable tanks by screwing them onto the regulator and plugging the regulator into the quick disconnect on the grill
buy a propane hose that connect directly to a tank and has a fitting on the other end that has the screws threads found on the top of the green disposable tanks. screw this into the regulator just like you would screw in a green tank


now you can use you grill using
rv outlet
green tank
any larger tank that has the acme fitting

use gas specific teflon tape and leak solution to ensure no leaks at any connections you make. parts are available on-line or any big box hardware store.

ps we have a roadtrip grill, made these modifications, and it works just fine.

I bought the Sturgi-Safe adaptor on Amazon.

It works perfectly, and to original adaptor is untouched so I can easily switch back to the small bottles if necessary.

The part itself is $35, but leaves you with no assembly work to do or any unknowns. It just works. They do get you for another $10.49 in shipping.

FWIW, I bought the one with the hose, but wish I bought the hose separately. I could have save a few bucks.

Be careful as there are two way of using propane items on RVs and they are very different. Your grill is designed to operate directly off of the high pressure (direct to tank) side of a propane system All you really need is an adapter/hose (see item 1 below). If you have a low pressure propane port on the side of your RV, then you need to remove the regulator on the grill and get a specific adapter for your grill. There are various lengths of the adapter hose which will allow you to move the grill further away from your RV. If you do not want to disconnect the tank from the RV system each time, you can purchase a "T" to mount before the RV regulator and connect to it. Depending on which "T" you get, you may need a slightly different hose. ( see items 2&3)
