best Steak Sauce.....

.
I've been making a really good "Seafood Steak Sauce" for my Steaks for years - but I just tried (and have eaten) a Sauce (that I got from a tv program) that's taking it's place

it's delicious and here's the recipe :

1 large Yellow Onion - sliced
1/2 stick Butter
1 cup Heavy Cream
3/4 cup Blue Cheese Crumbles (I get from Sam's Club)
3 Tblsp Worchestershire Sauce
Pepper (don't use Salt - the Blue Cheese is salty enough)

saute Onion in the Butter (until just turning brown - don't burn) - add Cream, Worchestershire, Blue Cheese & Pepper - heat until Cheese melts and spoon atop Steaks

this is great over Steaks & Pork Chops (that's what we had tonight) and it would be super over Hamburger Steaks or Fish too

when I next make this (next Steak nite) I'm going to add bite-sized pieces of King Crab (to make it perfect)

if you like all the ingredients, make it and don't like it, I'll buy you a steak dinner.....Bill

We've always used the UK's "HP Sauce". It's been our family tradition in the UK for generations, and since we can get it at our local supermarket in Anacortes, we don't bother making our own.

On my post-angioplasty diet, red meat is restricted, so we don't have beef as often as we used to.

If you gotta put sauce on it it aint worth eating. A good steak only needs a little salt! jdadoug

I only used "Montreal" style seasoning on my steaks before grilling (coarse salt and coarse crushed black pepper mostly) for years and LOVED it.

Grill Mates® Montreal Steak Seasoning

Now on a limited salt diet, looking for a good alternative.

We use Club House brand Montreal Steak Spice, have for years. Also on a low sodium diet since some heart issues 5 years ago but you gotta season your steaks! Chew on some celery sticks or carrots instead of chips during a movie and you've more than made up the difference! Just took steaks out of the freezer for tonight on the Weber!

I usually do not use steak sauce but when I do, I just put Ranch Dressing in a small bowl and add some Franks Hot Sauce. I don't even stir the mixture, just dip the bite of steak in it and it covers. But I am going to try hockeytownmom's sauce. Thanks for sharing it.

Same here on the limited salt diet. Being Italian and loving my spices, I thought I would die when my Doctor told me many years ago to cut way back on my salt intake.

I did cut back and it wasn't that difficult. About the only time I use salt now is when we have corn on the cob and I gotta have some salt with the butter.

There is so much salt in processed food now that most people eat too much of it anyways.

those who are going to try that recipe I posted are going to enjoy it..(for non-beef eaters, I know it would be good on Pork, Chicken or Fish too)

for those "others" - ya need to get culinary-out more - would bet you've never had Scallops in a Pernod Cream Sauce over Pasta either.....

my Wife was out running errands the other day - I called her and asked that she stop by Sam's Club and pick-up a package of King Crab Legs - she did, so I'm adding some when I make it again this week.....Bill

Ya, you're right Whisky, some people do have to expand their culinary minds. At The Keg (really good Steakhouse here in Canada) the wife and I will order our steak with the "Oscar" sauce topping, which is a rich seafood cream sauce with shrimp and scallops. Adds a few $$$ to the entree but Holy Crap it's good!

Another restaurant called Mr Prime Rib here in town has a walnut/blue cheese topping on prime rib roast beef...add a little horseradish and you're in heaven!

both sound very good. you're people after my own heart. like I posted before, I consider myself a good cook and I spend many many hours in the kitchen making things that really please the taste buds (something adding "a little salt" just can't do).....Bill
