I've got the large egg at home and carry the mini in the camper. The mini is fine for the two of us. I smoked a turkey on Easter, yea I know, ham on Easter, but we had that too. We just had this dead bird in the freezer since Christmas and since the family was over it was a good time to get rid of it. My favorite though is pork ribs on the egg.

Here's a review on the big green egg grill;

Big Green Egg (Large) Review

The "nest" (wheels and frame) runs around $150.00

It looks like the large size is around $800.00

See what I mean about paranoia about it tipping over and shattering?
Yes, prices are pretty close as Weezer says. And then of course there's the pizza stone, plate setter, etc.

It is the large egg, and actually is pretty dog-gone stable in the nest. I was a little nervous the first dozen times or so I lifted the lid, but it actually just stays put.
Now I would've never bought one on it's own, but as a free-be with the camper -- can't beat it.

Thats a workhorse in the BBQ Comps. The ability for the ceramic cookers to run low and slow and not be bothered by temps, wind, rain and so on are a big benifit. The only big downside is that you need to use only Lump Charcoal. Depends on who you ask, this might be a benifit. I am a tried and true Kinsford Blue becasue of the consistancy and the fact that you can find it pretty much anywhere. If you Competion cook, its hard to find a consistant supply of lump. Ive dumped out bags that had 3' sections of hardwood floor in it for example. Either way, good deal on the cooker! I'm starvin...

Very nice and good smoker. Some competition teams on the BBQ Pitmasters circuit use them and are doing very well with them.

Nice hemisphere too...

We too bought our new Coach at the Cleveland RV Show through Avalone RV Center. We got a XL Green Egg. Haven't put it together yet, but looking forward in trying it out soon..

We've had a BGE for several years and I have to agree that it is a fantastic cooking tool. I would like to suggest that you look at a temperature regulator for it. Do a search for BBQ Guru and there are several models. Just get your coals going and the regulator will keep your temperature constant within one degree. I have done large pork butts overnight for pulled pork and they come out great. No more fiddling with the upper and lower vents for temperature control.
