Big Green Egg

Anyone carry a Big Green Egg with them for smoking and grilling? Do you have any great recipes to share?

Looks delicious! What kind of rubs or seasonings do you like to use?

I've been using yellow mustard and famous Dave's rib rub on my ribs.
For the prime rib I used olive oil, Excalibur prime rib rub and McCormicks grill mates Montreal steak seasoning.

I was thinking about getting a Kamado Joe Jr to keep in ours. It's the same type of grill/smoker/oven, but smaller. I have a vision Grill Kamado at home that I use all of the time and love it.

I've been wanting one of these for awhile now. Maybe once I see what my tax return looks like.

We have a large Green Egg at home, but are looking into the mini-max, which weighs in at 62 lb. That is still pretty heavy, but well worth it.

Sknight - you can purchase a large size BGE for less if you attend an Egg Fest. I don't know where you are located, but hopefully you can find one near by. We purchased one and saved about $200.00. My brother purchased his in Arizona the same way just this past spring. In addition, Egg Fests are fun and you learn a lot. We cook pizza, calzones, stews and beans in a Dutch oven, as well as smoking and grilling meat and vegetables on it. We have even tasted many desserts made on one. You can cook just about anything on it. Very versatile. We will probably do most of our cooking on it when camping. You will enjoy it to no end once you have one!

I use a poor man's BGE at home the Char Griller King Griller. It is to big to carry with the 5ver so, I recently picked up a Masterbuilt electric smoker. Been out camping since Thursday with a large group of friends used it 3 times did 2 pork butts one day then some ribs then 2 more butts yesterday. All came out perfect. It has a small footprint and only weighs 40 lbs. Cost $177 on Amazon.

You can get a Broil King Steel Keg with a trailer hitch mount.

We have the steel keg at home and it is great!

Getting a BGE this spring for my at my seasonal lot. Cant wait to try it out. Have not decided yet between the medium and large size yet. I tend to do a turkey at Thanksgiving so I need one large enough to hold a turkey. Anybody done a turkey on theirs and what size do you have? Normally it would just be for my girlfriend and myself.

My coworker did their Thanksgiving turkey on their BGE and she said it was delicious. We have done one in the past on our large one. My brother has the XL one, but had two different problems with it. I can't recall what happened. I think one cracked. My husband and I feel that the XL has more problems than the smaller ones. We have 7 other family members with the large size and no one has had a problem. We also did a turkey on ours. My husband says it was good - I don't remember myself, but just about everything we do turns out great, unless you over cook it.
