Quality single malt scotch should only ever have a small amount of branch water added to offset the alcohol burn on the tongue and not overly affect the actual taste. According to my studies on fine Scotch Whiskey (written word AND hands on) and many years in the US Navy operating out of Holy Loch, Scotland (near Dunoon, home of the Highland Games). When I had to drink my dolphins, I pleaded to not have Scotch in the blend. Hence, it was mostly Scotch Yes, I did get sick later, which was healthier in the short and long run. Drinking your dolphins is now banned in the Submarine force, alcohol poisoning is not a good thing.

The blended Scotch whiskeys are fine on the rocks or mixed with soda water. Or in a Rob Roy.

However, I am not a Scotch snob. I am also a connoisseur of inexpensive Scotch. My current cheaper favorite is Barristers. Under $20 for the big bottle in PA.

Indeed. I started using round ice, rather than cube, as it lasts longer in my Captain's. Rather nice nightcap around the campfire and his private stock fits the bill!

3 part Panther Spiked Apple Spirits (distilled in Alexandria MN)
2 parts McGillicuttys Vanilla
1 part Fireball cinnamon whisky

I call it Apple pie a la mode, that one was hard to get the mix right, after a couple of trials it was hard to tell how it tasted.

Long Island Ice tea. (fills a standard pitcher)

3 lemons juiced -don't substitute but you can use 2 if you're a sour wuss
1 cup gin (Tanqueray)
1 cup vodka
1 cup triple sec (Contreau) -don't cheap out
1 cup tequila (blue agave) -don't cheap out
1 cup white rum
2 cups sweet and sour
2 cups orange juice -get the good stuff

Mix all of the above in a pitcher and add coke one drink at a time. (Don't add coke to the pitcher)

Oh Gosh, please know that I am not trying to start an argument or anything, but I need to say that there are reasons why many campgrounds prohibit alcohol and just asking, please, for all sharing cocktail suggestions, please be respectful of those camgrounds that prohibit alcohol and do not drink alcohol while camping there. Believe me, it can help you have much happier camping neighbors and, as I have sadly witnessed in the past, prevent a tragic campground accident that occurred because of a camper who had consumed too much alcohol. thank you!!

Nothing fancy- I like my whiskey, a glass of Pendleton is for me--- sometimes with a shot of Fireball to liven it up.

If you like the Pendelton, try Leadslingers Bourbon.

Whiskey. And some ice. More whiskey than ice though. If I'm feeling fancy, maybe a mint julep or an Old Fashioned.
