I didn't do any prep to the corn, other then peel it. Husks off and I put it off to the side of the grill. Not directly over the LUMP. Hahaga. Maybe 15-20 mins. Came off really sweet, great flavour. It was the best part of meal.

No prep. If you haven't tried this,when you take them off,take the stalk end and cut it about a 1/2 in.back thru the cob.grab the silk end and just push the corn out.No silk or anything on the corn.Easy peasy.

I've changed my mind on charcoal. Never used lump before, just regular Kingsford. I was really pleasantly surprised with the lump when I tried it. Better flavor & burns hotter. I like hotter except when cooking chicken. I'm now sold on lump; will probably never go back to regular charcoal. So thanks for the advice & once again I've learned something from the wise folks that frequent FRF. Ya'll are the best!!!!

I pick up at the place that makes Royal Oak and Big Green Egg lump. Know what the difference is? The color of the bag.

Lump for super hot searing steaks and burgers. Coal for slow steady heat. Add firebricks to even out heat and maintain high heat.. I also use them to slow cook indirectly.. Weber makes the best grills..

Memorial Day Long weekend (May 30) you will be able to find deals at Walmart, Homedepot and Lowes. Last year I got the 2 bag pack for 7.99 each at Walmart last year. Best time to stock up for the year of BBQ'ing.

Lump is for hot and fast Kingsford is great for low and slow with woods chips use the snake method.

I always use Kingsford to START my grill (just a small pile and sometimes to boost the temp if needed), since I can get a GREAT deal on the double bags certain times of the year from local hardware stores. Once coals are going I use stick firewood for the rest of my cooking. Being down here in nowhere I keep a cord of mesquite, oak and pecan for cooking and for the fireplace.
We throw a few sticks of wood in the bed of the P/U and use it for flavoring when we're out. IF you don't have a cord then Academy has bags of different woods available...I REALLY like to use Apple for chicken and fish which isn't a harsh smoke. SMOKIN' and GRILLN' is just a way of life for us and we take it everywhere we can....
