Dutch Oven Dump Cobbler

Dump Cobbler

~Dutch Oven recipe~

You will need:
Dutch Oven (ours is a 12")
aluminum foil (makes cleanup simple)
2 cans pie filling (your favorite...I like Apple)
1/2 cup liquid (water, apple juice, Sprite, 7-Up, whatever) if pie filling
very thick (optional)
1 box white or yellow cake mix
1/2 stick margarine (we use squirt margarine)
Brown sugar (optional)
Cinnamon (optional)
25 charcoal briquettes

Light the charcoal until they are white hot
Line Dutch oven with aluminum foil
Pour 2 cans of pie filling into Dutch oven and add liquid if pie filling is thick.
Sprinkle cake mix over pie filling (DO NOT MIX IN).
Squirt margarine over the top (about 1/4 cup).
*Optional: sprinkle brown sugar and/or cinnamon over the top if the pie
Put lid on Dutch oven
Place 10 coals on top of oven and 15 under the oven. Adjust as necessary.
Bake for 45 minutes
It is ready when the butter is all melted and the cake mix is "crusty
looking" (the yellow cake mix does not "brown" as well as the white cake mix)

Be CAREFUL it is very HOT. Warn the kids to let it cool in their bowls for a few minutes before eating. Tastes great with a scoop of ice cream!
