If the guy who invented them is doing the Mod, why isn't he incorporating it into his design?

if the guy you are meeting with about the Mod is the person who invented the Smoker, why wouldn't he incorporate the mod into the design if its better? ie, GMG davey crocket version 2, new and improved with more smoke and more consistent temperature

Compared to my Bradley the GMG is bang on temp, does not vary much at all. More smoke would be welcome though.

Tried smoked cheese on the Davy Crockett and it turned out pretty good. Left the GMG grill off. And used the A-Maze-N Smoker 6" Tube on the far side of the grill. Added the cheese on a square grid cooling rack. 2 1/2 hours later, nice smoked swiss and cheddar.
Folks also use the tube to add smoke to the GMG grill.

Green mountain grill / smoker
I have the great smoke out going today.
In at 9 am. GMG Pork Roast.
Here is what it looks like 3 hours later. I would say another 4 hours yet. Internal temp is 144 F
The Ribs going into the Bradley Smoker. This 6 full racks of meaty back ribs.
The outside temp is windy and 40 so I want to make sure everything is cooked for dinner. Bradley is insulated cabinet and I have used it in the read of winter with good results.

i wanted to, but DW was not in favor. By not in favor, i mean I was told there was room for the smoker or me in the house. She did point out that it would talk back less than me. So there is that
Its out in the garage right now with a 9 lb butt in it. But my garage is embarrassingly messy

All is well on the home front. Are you and Cowracer going to present a signature dish at the next rally?

To make cleanup easier, put wide aluminum foil on the top diffuser plate and line the grease bucket also with foil. You will LOVE it!!
AND it's too late if you started the butt, but, the bolt holes for the spring bases weep the BBQ greases/drippings. Many have used hi temp silicone caulk around the blots/nuts and any seam that might weep on the right side bottom of smoker.

thanks for the info. I have wrapped the top diffuser and the cute little bucket. I will wait until it cools to add some caulk
just talked with Turbs about my probe registering variences of over 100 degrees. I think i may need to download the firmware. Until then, i have a meat thermometer

Every dish I cook is a signature dish.
But seriously, I have a LOT to learn with this thing. I can grill stuff that will make you weep with joy, but I have never 'smoked' anything (meat-wise ) I'm planning on being the disciple sitting at the right hand of the master (AKA Turbs)

Aww MAN! I gotta wait till after Christmas to use mine. Despite the fact that I found it, I bought it, I went and picked it up and that I will probably have to carry it into the house, MamaBear will insist on actually wrapping it up and putting it under the tree. I bet I cant even get the manual out and get a head start on reading.

Sounds like a connection problem. Wipe the 1/4" phone plug with iso alcohol. If you have some fine steel wool or a soap free scotchbrite pad, give the phone plug a light scrub with iso alcohol. Then insert and twist it to clean up the internal jack.
If you download the firmware, DO NOT load the newest/untested/prototype (forget what they call it). IT does NOT work. Load the "tested" version. I the geek wanted the latest and had to revert!!
