Yet another check mark in the "reason to upgrade to a MoHo" column

I have used the wooden one from target for years in my home. I also have an ice crusher. Ice Cream tastes great home made. However you can't just turn it on and leave it, it must be monitored.

Google "Mowie Wowie" ice cream recipe. If it gets past your heart, it's going right to your butt. I leave the mixture in the fridge overnight and crank it the next day, using an electric until it stops and then hand crank until I stop.

We have made home made ice cream at some of our club campouts. Found out that the ones with the plastic buckets do not perform as well as the ones with the wooden buckets. Was even more surprised that most of our "older" club members had never had home made ice cream.

OK, how many of y'all are from the true South? Goodness. Ain't no 'shortcut' for frying thick cut bacon, smoking pork butts, or making home made ice cream! Gracious sakes.

First, get one of these:
Nostalgia 6-Quart Ice Cream Machine with Wood Bucket - Walmart.com

Get the electric kind, but ours is dual......hand crank or electric.

Recipes abound. My favorite:
6 eggs
2 cups sugar
1 can Eagle Brand (use a plastic knife to get it all out)
More vanilla than the law allows
1/2 pint heavy whipping cream
1/2 pint half and half

Mix that up with anything, but electric hand mixer is best. Pour into container. Inside the metal container is a line that says "Fill Line". Fill with WHOLE milk to that line.

Line area between bucket and container with a little ice, rock salt all around, more ice, more rock salt, more ice, more rock salt.......till it runs over the sides. Plug it in about halfway through that process. Monitor closely. When motor stops unplug it.

If you just have to add something to this, you can add cut up FRESH peaches (From Georgia if you can get them). I guess you might add some Arkansas strawberries on occasion. But all that is better put on after, as is chocolate syrup.

If the Good Lord made anything better than this, He kept it for himself.

Now I need to dig my wooden one up, and put it in the rig!
