Cowboy Coffee

Cowboy Coffee: Bring water to simmer, remove from heat, briefly let cool, add freshly ground coffee, wait a few minutes, pour through filter into mug. Add heavy cream. Take a sip.

Nothing could be more wonderful!

FYI: Cowboy coffee is strongly flavored, so it requires less coffee than normal methods.

I use a French Press with the coffee ground coarse. You can find some great varieties of whole coffee beans in food co-ops and of course, regular type beans in supermarkets. Boil water, measure coffee, pour hot water in press, let sit for about 5 minutes, coffee time!!

Well a Bunn, of course, dollink. I like my coffee fast!
We are seasonal, so it's not an issue using a Bunn.

Javamatic

No matter how many friends and family come with us, they always seem to congregate at ours for morning coffee. We bought an old Javamatic for $5.00 from a second hand store and have used it faithfully every camping trip. I think it makes 30 cups? But it all goes!

Trust me, you would NOT want to see my little sister crawl out of her tent before her morning cupper! We call her "Campzilla".

I like Community brand coffee, run through my Keureg. Very bold. Something about the way the machine pressure forces the brewing process.

Just plain old regular Folgers Drip for me. Strong, black & either hot or cold. Carry a cup around all day and half the night. Never leave home without taking a cup of coffee. A quart thermos on trips. Probably take at least a 1/2gal or more to get to Goshen.

Mr. Coffee 4-cup electric for days with electricity, percolator for days without electricity. Folgers or Maxwell house. I'm not as much about the taste as I am about the caffeine.
Do the coleman camping coffee makers fit all types of burners and are they fairly quick? I'm not a lover of a percolator.

My Bunn at the CG broke. I hate coffee that takes 10 or 15 mins to make but dont want to spend 100 or more on a new one. Any suggestions for other brands that make coffee nearly as fast as a Bunn (2 mins)? I know this is picky, but I get impatient for coffee in the morning. Not good at programming as I forget to do it.

Coleman perks or any other will be quick depending on BTU output of burner. In my 2012 Windjammer only takes about 5

Cowboy coffee takes about same: water to boil, add grounds, let steep add 3/4 cup ice or cold water( this pushes grounds to bottom, no need to filter), pour and enjoy. Play with grounds to get the right jolt. Used this everyday while n Nam and Iraq.

Keurig makes a small model that can be found for under $100, but not much under. Unlike the bigger Keurigs, you have to pour water in for each cup, but it's still fast and convenient and doesn't take up a lot of counter space.

I grind Dunkin' Donuts Coffee fresh, each morning. I brew it in a drip pot.

At home I use a Keurig with an Italian roast (I drink it black) and the DH drinks tea.
Now when camping it's a different story, we do mochas. Boil water in the kettle on the stove top (no power needed) and use hot chocolate mix (I have tried many, but the Safeway brand - the one that comes in a can and scoop yourself - is my fav) mixed with instant espresso (Medaglia D'Oro) topped with some half and half for extra creaminess...better than Starbucks any day! My ratio is 4/2 chocolate/espresso.

We have a Keurig for both home and the trailer. Mind you, I'll never have to worry about not having power. The spouse won't camp without the AC.

We have a Black & Decker single-brew coffee maker (DW is a tea drinker). The B&D is similar in size to a Keurig, but you use your own filters and ground coffee. We normally buy the San Francisco coffee from Costco and grind it ourselves, both at home and in the MH.

We're FHU campers, so power availability isn't an issue.
