My favorite coffee tip

No... Not how to make coffee, or even what to use.

In both out camper and our cabin, we use your basic, $20 Mr. Coffee 12 cup coffeepot. It has no timers or electonics, just a simple on-off rocker switch.

But one thing I added was a remote control outlet

When we go to bed at night, we make up the coffee for the next day, and turn the pot on, but leave the remote outlet off. I hang the key fob on the lamp by the bed. When I wake up, one of the first things I do is press the 'ON' button on the key fob. This turns on the remote outlet, and within a couple minutes, you can smell the coffee brewing.

This arraignment works for us better than one on a timer because we never know what time we are going to wake up. Some days its 6:00am, some days 7:30.

You can get the remote outlet off amazon for like $18 bucks here (LINK)
or at any Home Depot or Lowes. Make sure its rated for 1000 watts. There are some cheap 300 and 600 watt models out there that wont work with a coffeepot.

You are my kind of people. I love it.
When we swapped over to a digital thermostat I ran a set of wires to the bed area of our trailer with just an on/off switch. Now when we are trying to save battery juice when boondocking (thermostat way down low) I can turn on the heat in the morning without getting out of bed.

It is biblical that men make the coffee. You will find it in "Hebrews".

Here's my favorite coffee tip ... make a big pot, have Irish whiskey available & invite the campground to bring their own coffee mugs...have met some very interesting people this way....

Years ago in our old Kit Road Ranger I tied a string to the little lever on the furnace thermostat and ran it through a couple of eye hooks back to my bed so in the early winter morning I could simply pull on the string to get the furnace running. Crude but it worked. Love the "Hebrews" quote as well

I have a remote start for our coffee pot. His name is David. DH gets up before me and always starts the coffee at home an when we are camping but I like this idea.

My DH is hooked on his Keureg (sp?) and insisted on getting one of the single serve ones for camping. It is a pain because you have to fill with water for every cup unlike the one at home that has a reservoir. It’s camping so sometimes we have to rough it. Lol.

We have found what we call the "Ultimate Coffee Maker". We have one in the house and another in the camper. We have sold a few others on it and they love it too. It also has a hot water dispenser for the DW who loves her hot tea. It is a Cuisinart® Coffee Plus™ 12-Cup Programmable Coffee Maker with Hot Water System.
