Has anyone ever made peach cobbler in a pie iron?

I have used Pie Irons with pie fillings does taste great. But we make Peach Cobbler in a Dutch oven Takes about 30 min. My son likes to make it they do it in Scouts all the time. When it's done my DW breaks out the ice cream

We call that a 'Camper's Pie maker' and have several too.. It makes the most delic treats. Yummmmmm. When wifey and I make cobbler, it's in our Dutch Oven. The oven also makes a decent pizza and my personal fav....homemade beef stew

I am going to have to try a Dutch oven....I make an awesome Irish stew, but I have never used a Dutch oven!
I also have a recipe for grilled cheese that will knock your socks off....I bet it would be even more perfect done in one of those pie plates!

Dutch Oven Peach Cobbler
1. Box of yellow cake mix
2 Cans of slices peaches in syrup
1/2 or up to 1 stick of butter
Ground Cinnamon
Plain granola for crunches on top if you would like
I spray the oven with Pam really well and my ovens are seasoned
Pour both cans of peaches with there syrup in
Now pour the box of cake mix over the peaches and pat it down evenly I use the cake mix box bottom don't mix it let the peach juice just naturally absorb into the cake mix
Next sprinkle on the ground cinnamon all over the top when you think there's enough it's not add more
Now slice the butter up in pads and put on top like pepperoni on pizza
Then for extra if you would like sprinkle on the granola
Put some coals on the Los and underneath the oven and cook for about 30 mins and check it will look good may have to cook longer but you will be able to tell ask the DW for some Ice cream
Enjoy great dessert you can change it up by using blueberry to pineapple's or any other fruit you would like

We do something very similar , instead of fruit we use canned pie filling. Very good with homemade ice cream!

We love this recipe and have been using it for a couple of years. We now use one can of sliced peaches and one can of peach pie filling to get what we think is the right consistency. We put it on right after eating the meal and 45 minutes later it is done. Everyone always loves it.

I do it the same way and the kids love it. I think my pot is the 5 quart size. I use 12 coals on the lid and 12 coals on the bottom for about 30 to 40 minutes. I like the granola idea, I will have to try it this weekend.

Yep, we do this one all the time. There is also a 7-up cake.
Apple pie filling on the bottom,
Sprinkle with cinnamon
Yellow cake mix on top
Add 1/2 can of 7-up or sprite, stir to moisten the cake mix but be careful to not disturb the apple pie filling and bake about 30 minutes with the coals on top and bottom of the Dutch oven -
I usually line the Dutch oven with foil so I can lift out the cake to serve it. The kids love it.

I use a coal starting chimney and use half the coals under the oven and the other half on the top.

I miss spoke, I put more on top than on the bottom for baking. Goggle search found dutchovendude.com which has a great discussion on several methods for getting temps right.
