Pellet Grill/Smoker

When i was in a stick house i had a few pellet grill/smokers. When we decided to become full time RV'rs i could not take my huge pellet grills with me. So i waited and looked around for portable pellet grills.

Traeger came back out with the PTG but i didnt like it because of the lack of cooking area for butts and briskets.

Last year Green Mountain Grills came out with the portable Davey Crockett, So i waited for the bugs to be worked out and price to come down.

I got one 2 months ago for $369

Here is my smoke this morning. Half a butt (being its just me and wife)

Pre heating using hickory/pecan pellets.

Rubbed down and injected with juice.

Little round thing on left is an AMZNPS with apple pellets.

Nice unit. How is it for smoke when using in campgrounds if other campers are close?

That grill should be banned from all CG's. Totally not fair to the rest of us to have to smell that all day!

Seriously though, that is pretty sweet. Pellet grill is on my wish list, but DW says no more grills since I have 2 at home and 2 for the camper already....

One of these is on my list to buy this year. We bought the Daniel boon size last fall and have loved it. Course, now I gotta take up running and drop a few pounds, or the weight police will be all over me. dw made me promise we wouldn't get one at first, but after hauling the full size one camping she's changed her mind. happy Campin! Oh, and happy meat Eatin!

I have a treager junior with a tailgator package. It has more than double the cooking area of the PTG and it is very portable. I love my treager and it was just $299.

Yeah this is a nice RV grill. uses 110v and comes with alligator clips for a battery.

As for lots of smoke its just like other pellet grills, smokes when the auger puts pellets in the fire pot.

Like Arefbee said, you will have other campers asking what your cooking.

Here is the butt at a stall.

IT of meat at 156 right now so i moved closer to the hopper side and rotated the mat.

Ya know i did have a grill stolen from me right from my deck at the KOA in Savannah, GA. The owner said oh well and she was not responsible for my loss.

I use a Bradley also. Had a 6 rack but since going full time down sized to a 4 rack. Mostly for sausage making.

Y'all are making me hungry! I was just thinking today about doing a butt sometime in the near future. Unfortunately, DW isn't a pulled pork type person. She's not particularly fond of smoked meat. So, I don't see any type of portable smoker for camping in my future.

That is why you need a pellet grill. You can bake roast smoke, and grill on them.

Thats true

I have baked bread, rolls, pizza in my pellet grills. Depends on the type of wood used for the smoke.

Remember you cant use home pellet stove pellets in your bbq pellet cooker, the pellets need to be food grade approved for bbq.

Nepas...I'm thinking you are a fellow Pellethead and member of Pellethead.com? It looks like you enjoy grilling and smoking meats with wood pellets as much as I do...I noticed in one of your pictures you are even using some frog mats, those things are great and work great too!

I don't know about you but after grilling, smoking and eating from a wood pellet grill for the last 8 or 9 years I can't eat off a gas or charcoal grill. Nothing taste the same or even comes close to the flavor you get from them...I make campground friends quickly when I fire our grill up while camping. Once they get a whiff of that smoke curiosity sets in and they follow their noses to our campsite. I have no proof but I bet I have converted/sold a lot of pellet grills to people I have met while camping....Ha...
