Hey everyone! My husband and I just inherited a pie iron last year. We did grilled cheese, pizza's and attempted some pies (those did not work out). We would love some ideas. Especially dessert ideas.
We take bisquit dough or pie dough, cut it to size and then put peach, cherry or apple pie filling in them.....we also take glazed donuts, put a slice of pineapple and a little brown sugar and grill...yum, but very sweet!! Pizzas work out good and grilled cheese....
We take two slices of bread, butter each lightly, put one on the open pie platter buttered side down, spoon on apple, cherry, or some other filling, put the other slice of bread on buttered side up, and clamp the thing up. Trim the hanging crust off with a knife, and proceed to cook until steam starts coming out.
