Question about quick connect hose

We have been using a grill that came with our camper and attaches to the side of the camper. It connects to the gas with a hose that comes from a port on the side of our camper. Is that called a quick connect? We are wanting to get a freestanding campstove/grill. How do I know if one can be used with that same gas line?

You need to look for a grill that either doesn't have a regulator built-in or one that can easily be removed (such as a WeberQ or Blackstone).

For removing them, Torjik makes a kits that are very simple to install. Any idiot can do it; I know because I are one.

Yes a quick connect. You can use a different grill but you will need to remove the built in regulator since that line is low pressure. There may be a stand alone without a regulator but that I can't help you with.

look closely at the regulator that comes with the grill you are thinking about. there will be a gas hose coming out of the regulator going to the grill. if you can unscrew that hose from the regulator you can make it work. all you need to do then is put the proper quick connect fitting on the hose going to the grill and then plug that fitting into your existing hose with quick connects on it. you might possibly need an adapter but all the parts are at most any hardware store.

Torjik kits are great. Not only changes about any grill to quick disconnect for camper but allowing a quick disconnect to put regulator back on to use with hose and tank.

Usually you will be looking for a grill that has separate knobs to control the flame. Not controlled on the regulator. The most common after market that I have heard of is the Coleman roadtrip, Webber Q, and 17 or 22 inch black stone. You can get the below hose in multiple lengths. I just ordered a 12' for my blackstone.

With my Torjik kits I converted my Weber Q1200 to quick connect to RV source, quick connect to original regulator to LP bottles, or quick connect to an LP tank hose.
Functional, easy and not expensive.

Quite easily. In addition to adapting the supply to the grill you need an inline Needle Valve to regulate the flow of the propane to the grill.

Like This: https://www.ebay.com/itm/3-8-BSP-Fem...b86c64bfbf51e0

Or a grill that uses individual controls for each individual burner, like this:

No Needle Valve needed. Torjik is for all LP operation. To adapt to RV quick connect the regulator on your grill is removed and quick connect attached there to handle the already regulated low pressure gas from RV. Then your grill regulator has an fitting put on that allows you to quickly reattach to your grill and use the small LP bottles, also has an adapter from the old regulator with hose to attach to a portable 20/30lb tank. So no needle valve or flow adjustment needed. This is the simply way to do it, especially for those not gas, flow rate and jet/needle valve swap savvy.
Have done this to several grills using Torjik as well as self sourcing the parts from HD, Lowes, True Value to help friends and other campers wanting the same flexibility.

This Smoke Hollow Vector 2 grill works great. Camping World had them on sale, online only for 135.99. Took hose with regulator off and bought 12 ft. hose with quick disconnect, WORKS GREAT! Best grill I have had and smokes well also.

Here's an example of what a Weber Q looks like with the regulator removed. The original valve stays in place. You can put a quick connect fitting at the valve or run the hose directly to it. I've done the quick connect mod to our Weber and a previous Coleman Roadtrip. Modifying other grilles/BBQs is basically the same. Very easy to do.

You can also buy the individual bits and pieces and hose and put it together yourself. The hoses can be pretty expensive though. I recommend getting the hose type that has the flexible rubber jacket because they're so much easier to coil up. The propane quick connect fittings are RV-specific and don't buy compressed air fittings.

We have been through several grills in our camping life, from Weber to generic to single valve Smoke Hollow (model 205) to the Smoke Hollow Vector 280 series.

By far the SH Vector series (ours has three separate burners), is the one I like the very best

Thanks everyone for all the info. We have purchased a Blackstone Tailgator. Since we are needing a new gas grill for home anyway, we have decided to use this at home with a 20 pd tank from our old grill and then use it with our quick connect on our camper for camping also. Do we just unscew the quick connect and screw the regulator back on when we use it at home or do we need some other kind of kit when going back to using the 20 pound tank?

how about putting a quick disconnect on the regulator that is on the 20 lb tank? then you can plug your new grill into either quick disconnect (rv or 20 lb tank)
