Show me your outdoor kitchen set up!

Hi there! We dropped off the face of the earth for several months - sold our house, moved to rental, built a new one, moved in and settled just in time for campin season! WHOOOP WHOOOP!

Last year was our first season camping with the A Frame. I love that little thing but I really struggled with the cook top. The smoke alarm is darn near directly over it - if you catch my drift. It wasn't the smoke that set it off - it was the heat! So it's probably not the best way to prep food. I love cooking over an open fire as well. Anyway - I'd love to see what you all use as your outdoor mess hall! Got Pics!?!?

Here's mine simple but effective. Camp Chef Yukon. 14" Camp Chef Dutch oven Louis & Clark Edition. Also have a Camp Chef grill box. It hooks directly up to the external propane feed. I also made a much larger & much lighter shelf to hang were the useless grill is supposed to go.

Love this Dutch oven. It's one of the most used items we own. The lid double as a fry pan

I initially converted the silly "grill" that came with the camper to a two-burner stove which worked well enough, but still looked enough like I built it that my wife got sick of it.

On our trip last week I junked that thing and picked up a Camp Chef #COVEN. Two burner stove on top and a small oven. I hooked it into the camper supply for the old grill and it worked great. (It's not much bigger than my wife's tackle box so it stores nicely in the bedroom along the wall while travelling.)

Allows me to not cook inside the camper and keeps the extra heat outside where it belongs.

We have that exact Dutch Oven! I love it! Still use my skillet but love the dutch oven too. What did you use to make the shelf so it attaches to the camper? We hate that stupid grill set up but would love extra shelf space instead.

I've seen this thing! I couldn't figure out if you could use all three things at once??

Would love a link to what you bought if you don't mind. Sounds perfect!

Hopefully that link works. The instructions specify that it cannot and should not be hooked to a gas supply from a camper for some reason. (Though they sell adapter hoses for some of their other units.) In any case, I picked up an 1/8" npt street elbow and attached the supply nipple from my old grill to the oven supply connector in place of the regulator. Since the camper gas is regulated off the main tanks I didn't need the additional regulator that came with the unit. Then I connected it with the original hose from the RV grill. Works great. If anything, I would think it would actually put out more flame if it were hooked to a separate tank.

Good enough for us in any case.

Cheers.

On the nastalgia electric griddle. You can make coffee. Then turn the coffee off. When you turn the heat on for the griddle, it also heats the oven and makes toast. The heat element is inside the toaster oven under the griddle. It works pretty good, as long as you are cooking for two.

I took the "J" bracket off the original shelf before I threw it away & cut it in half to better distribute the weight. Then just screw it to the new shelf I built.

Did you have to purchase an adapter to connect the external feed to the Camp Chef stove? Does it have adequate lp pressure?

Yes I had to buy the male end for the quick connect & used a small hose clamp to attach to Camp Chef. It was $3 or $4 at Home Depot. Plenty of pressure. I do some long cooks too. Chilie, roasts, bbq pulled pork sometimes 5-6 hours on low flame, works perfectly!

I cook about 85% of our food over the fire when we camp. When it rains we do a crook pot meal. Try not to cook in the camper as much as possible cause the smell just sticks around to long.

We do have an outdoor kitchen which helps out a lot but still cook over the fire is preferred.
