We had some pretty good wind gusts @ Prophetstown in West Lafayette IN this last weekend,,, I am sure they would have removed awning if not for the straps & poles !!
I had to strap one end to a very large & very heavy Picnic table,,, the wind moved the table a little,,, but the awning hung on !!! Not could be said for one neighbors tent,,, it & what every was inside went rolling !!!

The wind was strong enough in Nashville that it broke my flagpole in half! The awning never moved!

I don't understand why anyone would want to leave there awning out during a storm or high winds? Logic tells me just to roll it up and take care of my equipment

So one doesn't have to put away everything else sitt'n around that the awning is protecting......of course tho, there are limits...

If I had to roll mine up every time the wind blew I'd never have it out.
Why have it if you can't use it?

What do ya do after you anchor the front of awning to the ground? Throw used tires on top of awning? Kidding. I'll keep mine available to roll up in few seconds

No....some of us also use de-flapper poles that stay attached like the awning poles.....
