What am I missing? I see the picture with the tie down straps with the poles. Now you have the straps and the poles to contend with when moving around. I use tie down straps that have been excellent in high winds. I do not see adding more items to do the same thing as the straps.

During expected strong down burst of rain, I put the awning at an angle so the rain rolls off quickly. I see others doing the same thing. Is it possible that your awning does not allow you to do the same thing?

If the winds or weather is that severe, the awning would not be out anyway.

What happens if your next door visiting......or walk'n around park......wind also blows when the sun is out and hot.....awning arms are weak, and if it get's to whipping around before one can retract it, then what?

Things always come up when you are not close by. Do you put your awning away every time you leave? Weather changes very fast sometimes in a short time. Poles help during those times!
