Hard to do from here at Mayberry, but upper pivot/ mount is the bolt that the awning arm pivots on.....I didn't want more holes, and the outer end is a stud mounted into side of arm with a hole in it for a small hitch pin... ( hairpin)

Here is the Bob Caldwell designed Deflapper pole being used with larger awning clamps. I also hang my sunscreen end panels from the deflapper poles. Ingenious idea OCW came up with.

First test

Big wind and rain off the lake this weekend. While watching and preparing to do whatever should the pole system not handle it, felt nervous and started to fret.

Saw a camper fighting to keep his awning from going over the top of his camper. I really wanted to watch how the system handled a real wind and rain event. Damn.

My buddy and l ran over became human poles. We are not small people and that 16ft awning was a real fight.

Judging by the fight to save the awning, I would say my setup passed.

Kudos to OC and Turbs for great system.

That was the thing. This happened fast, no warning. With the setup, I had a chance the other camper was sol had we not helped him.

Something happened to us in Florida this past Jan. We weren't at the RV when a storm blew through. Poles saved the awning!

We had a storm 2 years ago 65+ mph winds from nowhere, my wife could not figure out how to undo the ratchet straps, she got them and then she was holding one side of the awning and a gust lifted her up off the ground, she had not got to the other side yet, so she rebooked it back up San went to take shelter because the tornado sirens started going off.

I have a Black Dometic Awning on my new XLR 29HFS.

If you look closely, you will see a loose fit on the pads that are pop riveted on your poles. The loose fit lets the water out if any gets in.

I bet you do, even if it hasn't rained.

Drill a hole in them if you're worried they'll rust/corrode.
