The Claw tie downs. I've yet to find ground (30-40 places) that I could not get them into the ground. Very secure.

The poles are only useful for me with the wind, and must be put away as soon as the rain starts. Any suggestions?
To tilt the awning and use the poles, you MUST disable the auto dump feature. Once we put our awning out, we never take it in until we are breaking camp. We sit out in the rain under the awning.

They even work in the FL sand if there is a grass cover.

Just been lurking here for a while. Funny you should mention the Claw. I just ordered a set of 3 which should arrive at my house today. I got 2 for the awning and one for my satellite dish. I bought the aircraft kit off of amazon.

I guess I'm not sure how to disable the auto dump feature. I've tried to shorten one pole on the dump side, as others suggested, but that creates sag in the awning, and rain still pools up further sagging the awning and allowing that side of the awning to flap in the wind.

Are you using ratchet straps and dirt screws to tie the awning down?

De-flapper poles will keep material tight lengthwise

Do you have the lockable knobs on your awning?

My awning arm knobs are never tightened. I just set the poles to the height I want with the left side of the awning at least 6"-8" lower than the right one and just ratchet strap them down tight. The material is taut and the awning sheds water very nicely.

I was just going to point out that without the poles, the knobs are how you disable the auto-dump feature.

But you're right... With the poles, the knobs never need to be touched.

Call Dometic and ask for an adjustable strut. They gave them away for free several years ago.

I have the same awning setup. Use the palm of your hand right at the joint pictured and slap it down to get the angle you desire. Use light force until you understand how much effort it takes.

Hope this helps.

sorry for got picture...
