For anyone on the fence about these poles let me give a bit of unsolicited advice. We are currently camping and are right now going through a bit of a weather change. All was well last night when I went to bed. This morning we woke up to 25+ MPH wind gusts. I mean 'feel the whole trailer shaking' kinda gusts. I was a bit worried so I went outside and the poles are working flawlessly. The awning is fine with no issues whatsoever. I am confident I would have lost my awning where it not for the poles. Now with that being said, I did retract my awning this morning only because with it gusting so bad I wanted to make sure it didn't rip the fabric. I have already lost one awning before I got these poles. Fortunately my insurance covered it but for less than the cost of the deductible I consider these poles cheap insurance. This is also not the first weather change I have gone through where these poles 'saved the day'. I also would highly like to recommend a set of the yellow collapsable aircraft/awning tie downs available on Amazon. I even bought a third tie down for my satellite dish. They are very good at anchoring in any type of soil. The tie down poles and those anchors are probably one of the best investments I have made.

I want to add that I have no connection whatsoever with Oldcoot except when I made my purchase from him a couple of years ago and my comments are completely unsolicited.

I never thought of needing awning poles when we bought our new Apex Nano. We have camped in our trailer twice in the past few weeks. We had rain on our first trip but, the wind was negligible. I will be working on making up a set of poles here soon. Thanks for the great info!

I just roll my awning in when the wind blows. At 12 ft high the amount of air that can get under the awning it would be a sail no matter what you tie it down with.

A Travel trailer can make good use of these brackets.

Anyone know if TURBS is still making the poles? Noticed his thread has been closed so I can't post there.

Cheap and easy to install.
I'm sure you have/recognize the Camco deflapper. The tarp bungees were 10/pk at Walmart. The Adjustable bungees were 8/ pk at Harbor freight. All were <$10. In the relaxed position , just take the slack out at the adjustable portions
Yep, we have a pair of the Camco MAX de-flappers from our last TT with its manual awning. They're awesome.

So with the brackets and poles you're not concerned that the struts you've attached the de-flappers to might bend in high wind?

Not particularly. Pretty well triangulated at the attachment point. Haven't seen anything adverse so far. My awning is 21 ft. Gravity and taking out the slack at the low point make the motion all upwards from what I've seen, the elastic strands extend and relax as you might expect. Looks like it is floating . I have yet to see the large bungee appear to extend and it's been pretty breezy If you have the deflappers, costs you $10 to find out for yourself!

What's high wind to you? You probably have some sense of just how far you can go with just the poles and tie downs I would hope. It takes about 30 seconds to remove then and retract the awning. If weather forecast says severe thunderstorms and high winds etc that would be a judgment call on your part IMHO whether you have electric or manual awning. Your equipment your wallet

We use these, from Lee Valley Tools. Easy to install using the cordless drill that travels with us.

Thanks for the business, we sincerely appreciate it.

For those wanting kits, I need the qty, color(black, white or plain) AND YOUR PAYPAL LOGIN NAME AND SHIPPING ADDRESS to be able to send you an invoice.

He listed his price for black or white powder coated at $90 a few pages back. I got some from him last month and I live in Milford, the shipping was less than $10 I think. Glad to see another sussex county boy on here.

He included a link to painters poles at home depot, but, I got on Turbs waiting list for his aluminum poles. The are a little more expensive, but, look much nicer to me.

Also, I am not sure, but, according to my receipt, he did not charge for shipping.(just found it) Could be a mistake, in which case I will pay him when he tells me, can't be much because they don't weigh more than a peanut.

You can also get a hold of him on his Facebook page " busted knuckles " he posted Friday that he's getting ready to start again, he is just waiting for Havest season to end. Poles and brackets, shipped to your door, powder coated white or black or just metal. Hope that helps you guys...[emoji196]

I got the Turbs set and they are well worth the money and the wait. I get lot's of interest and comments on them in the RV parks and campgrounds we frequent.
