Hello neighbor from up the highway from you in Winston. I'd like a set of poles and I can pick up in person if that helps. Let me know the process.

Thanks

@ minimum if you had 2 10 foot sticks of conduit one 1/2" and one 3/4" cut them in half to make four pieces
Outer or upper Pole "3/4" gets two holes one at top to mount to bracket and one on bottom for adjusting inner pole.
The bottom "1/2" or inner pole just needs a series of holes drilled in a straight line a couple of inches apart for lower leg adjustment.
Add a foot and your done

Turbs,

My bracket kit is supposed to arrive today, so I don't have it yet,.....
so my question is, what two conduit sizes do you use? I've read post where it is said the original aluminum posts have a good sliding fit for adjusting the length, but I do not find any two sizes of conduit that have anything but a sloppy loose fit when one size is put inside another one. Am I overlooking something? If you used the conduit, what two sizes did you use and is it a good fit or do we live with the loose fit because we don't have the original aluminum poles?.......thanks for any info

I installed thin wall heat shrink every 3 or 4 holes and they fit perfect!

Not only that but they don't rattle in the wind!

fella10 you can also use pvc electrical conduit in the 1" and 1-1/4" sizes which telescope easily with clearance similar to the alum tubing. Just have to heat the end of the 1" and collapse to 1"- 1"-1/8" to fit the bracket.

Turbs & OldCoot

I received my brackets earlier this week (thanks OldCoot) then spent several days reading and studying each and every post in this thread. Based on the (friendly?) insults and barbs back and forth between certain participants I came away not sure who are the good guys and who to believe. Anyway I am preparing to make a set of poles to go with my brackets. Being a partially disabled Vietnam veteran I need to select the best solution the first time and do it right the first time. Works best for me to get everything I need with only one trip to HD or Lowes including poles, feet, etc.. OldCoot, for the long haul will the electrical conduit work better than the PVC? Turbs, I could use a few more details on what you used for heat shrink material and how it was applied. Also looking for recommendations as to what is best for the "feet". Thank you gentlemen (I think).
