Most folks release the poles before deploying. Remember, you DO NOT take the poles off when stowing. The poles are self stowing.

I use pvc and I do leave them stowed. I was commenting about the painters poles. The release is to high even if stowed. Homemade poles work better, might be switching to metal conduit those from the pvc.

I guess it depends on the painter pole.

My uncle has two that when one end is fastened at the top, you just turn the other end of the pole (the part sticking down where you can easily get a hold of) to release. Once extended to the proper position, you simply turn that same pole again to tighten.

Come to think of it... if it's the kind you must grab the knob/sleeve to release... why couldn't you mount it upside down with the release at chest level?

The pole at the top is too large to go into the bracket without more modifications

I made my own brackets wide enough to hold a painter pole with the handle on the top. The hang up hole in the handle accepted top bolt and I use a paint pad on the bottom to save poking holes in my mat.

not hard, just pull down on the awning arm and it comes down low enough to attach/adjust the painter's poles I really like not having poles attached, the bother me in my mirror, I'm a bit OCD!

Powder coated brackets in White or Black can be done but will take approximately one week longer to ship and there will be an increased cost-approximately $20 per set.

Received my brackets today

Count me as impressed with the quality of your brackets. My wife and I enjoyed viewing your photos during the fabrication of them. Makes a fellow really appreciate your efforts. Can hardly wait to get started installing them.
Thanks!

This is the best awning hold down system around. Just add aluminum EMT conduit, tie-down straps and "The Claw" aircraft tie-down anchors and have a very light awning hold down system.

NEWER OWNERS!

If you just got a trailer and do not yet have a set of awning hold down poles, then do yourself a favor and purchase two of the brackets that attach to the awning arms that old coot can provide. This makes it so easy to then make poles that will attach to the awning to keep your awning in place should one of those rogue high wind events pop up and try to make your awning fly-away over your trailer roof.

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED...

X3. And as a note, legs from an e-z-up make good poles.
