I think he is talking about using the small HORIZONTAL "C" channel arms at the top of the awning, not the large legs that connect to the bottom of the trailer and the end of the awning tube.

It looks like it is a T that has been modified. Never used that type pole as I didn't want something else to have to store.

I saw a video a bit ago where they called that a "saddle" fitting, and they found it at Lowe's.

I'm going to use either PVC or metal conduit for my poles. Want to paint them to match the RV regardless.
Should either type be primed before painting, or just rough up with a Scotch Brite pad then paint?

pvc ones need adhesive promoter before being painted.

Both the electrical PVC and the metal electrical conduit need primer from what I've been told. Scotch Brite pads will help scuff the finish before primer and painting.

Old Coots Awning Kit
Does anyone perhaps have a video of how to install these poles? My husband and I are not to construction savey and are quite confused on the process. We live in Clarksville, TN if there happens to be anyone that lives close who has done this and could help?

If you can drill a hole and use a rivet gun, you can install these. Aside from the poles themselves all they take to install the brackets is 4 holes, 4 rivets, unscrew 2 bolts, then screw those same two bolts back in.
