Anyway I am preparing to make a set of poles to go with my brackets. Being a partially disabled Vietnam veteran I need to select the best solution the first time and do it right the first time. Works best for me to get everything I need with only one trip to HD or Lowes including poles, feet, etc.. OldCoot, for the long haul will the electrical conduit work better than the PVC? Turbs, I could use a few more details on what you used for heat shrink material and how it was applied. Also looking for recommendations as to what is best for the "feet". Thank you gentlemen (I think).
Thin wall heat shrink. "Use heat gun to shrink"

See if this helps.

For my I used 1/2" solid round stock 3" long drill a 3/16" hole in bottom the pop riveted a washer on it then drilled a 3/16" hole thru the tube and round stock and riveted in .

OC - are you planning on making any more pole kits when you get back from FL next year?

The additional information helps. Making my material list then off the Home Depot. I hope to also locate paint that is close enough to my dark browning awning arms so I can paint the brackets. Plan to drill the awning arm so I can add the second SS bolt to each bracket.

NOTICE: All those that ordered the kits will not get the (2) 1/4 x 3/4 bolts & nuts as those will be in the new kits available maybe tomorrow instead of Tues. All the hardware came in this morning and TOWTA jumped right on the kits. I just have to finish bead blasting the upper brackets.

Depends on the price of the tubing. It keeps going up and I think the price of the entire pole assy is reaching its limit.

I used two of these paint extension poles from Home Depot for my awning poles...mounted the pole upside down with the fiberglass end at the bracket....the adjustable end had a quick release locking device with increments every 6 inches and I drilled some extra holes every 2 inches.....I then went to the PVC department and for the foot piece, I started with a 2X3 floor drain turned upside down, added a reducer, and then a 1/2" female threaded coupler, glued together......simply screw this on the end of the pole to stabilize it on the ground

Wooster 4 ft.- 8 ft. Sherlock Extension Pole-00R0550000 - The Home Depot

Everything worked great....really like the way they stow away for travel...I will unscrew the foot piece for travel......thanks OC for the bracket kit....a mod that I know we'll use very often.

Funny, I used one of those very poles for version 1 of my home built stabilizer. Worked pretty good but had a little too much play in it and I'm re-engineering it for one that is more rock solid. I may be a little picky and could leave it alone but isn't that what moding is all about? Achieving personal satisfaction of the job well done perfectly..

TURBS,

I wondered what the orange curved thing was. Then I decided it might be one of those rare snow clearing blades affixed to the front of tractors and trucks. Never see them out here in Southern California. Not much snow when the weather is bright, clear and in the low 80's. Unfortunately we do not see much water either.
