Safe travels OC!!
We too, have the awning poles, and we love them! I no longer worry if the awning is out, because I know it will withstand the weather!

I deployed my Mr. Dan handmade gray PVC poles on OC's custom made awning hold down brackets and left the awning out 12 days and through 2 heavy rains. Mahvelous! Get some brackets!

Well, at the last minute last Sat, I did load 12 kits in USPS Priority Mail boxes and brought them with me in case someone wanted to get their DW/DH/DGF/DBF a nice useful Christmas gift. I can get a kit in the mail immediately. PM me for details.

Only 10 kits left until mid-late Mar 2016. Better get a kit before they are all gone. Make excellent Christmas gifts for DW, DH and they are something that will let you use your awning in the rain and leave it out instead of having to stow it every time you leave the camper.

Has anyone tried these for ground anchors?

Thanks,

You still have to screw them into the ground which is where I had issues with the dog anchors. I like The Claw, which just hammers in.

Easy to use the dog anchors if you cut an old broom handle off to about 12"-14" and use it for a handle. I had a 14" pc of 1-14" dowel I use.

So far so good in the grass/sand and it's rained several times so far and is raining right now and they are still holding. Even had some 15-20 mph winds. Your idea of the de-flapper telescoping poles is working great also.

Too pricey and no way to screw them in the ground. Dog anchors better, at least you have a big handle to stick something in to help screw them in the ground.

Why couldn't you stick your 14" wooden dowel though the folding D-ring and screw them in just like the dog anchors?
