No more pvc poles will be made. When this batch of 25 are gone, that's the end of OC's poles, etc. D&D Chassis is being shut down.
Got home this afternoon.

To bad these aren't available in Canada.
I would gladly buy a set.
Unable to find anything like it anywhere around here.

If anyone north of the border knows someone in the US that is going to the Goshen Rally, I can ship to them if they are willing to haul them to Goshen.

Herk Where in eastern Ontario I live in Watertown, ny and usually get across the border several times a year. Or as I know Canadians are here every weekend we could meet somewhere here if your down. They could be shipped to Canada but just to get a letter across the border costs about 3$ US could only imagine what they would cost.

Great pole system

System works great. If you purchase the aluminum pole kit, make sure you get it in writing about the semi-annual free pole re-polish works from OC. He does a great Re-polish job!!!!!!!!!!!

Glen Jurczyk (gljurczyk) has volunteered to haul the pole kits to Goshen for anyone from Canada provided they find him in Goshen and pick them up.

One is no better than the other, the pvc ones take a lot of machining and getting the right size alum rod is extremely expensive. Alum ones can be polished to look like chrome. PVC can be painted to match camper easier than the alum ones. As they say, "6 of one, 1/2 dozen of the other" LOL. Regardless, this is the last batch I'll be making. Still have 850 holes to drill and de-burring both ends of 50 poles, make some more stow brackets and attaching brackets, cut shipping tubes, etc. Just getting too old and lazier.

Actually it is "BLACK" who wants the polls.

His "city" is "eastern ontario" and his "Name" is "Mr" in his profile.

PM him to see if he wants to share his details.

PVC is not UV stabilized and the poles might get brittle as they age.
PVC is also not the best choice for cold regions, I would think.

That's the gray stuff; right?

The poles (I THINK - as I don't have them - OC, check in please) )were made of schedule 40 PVC water pipe.

OK, here is the answer. NOTE the effect of sunlight on "impact resistance"

http://www.nacopvc.com/c/technical-i...re-on-pvc-pipe

While compression/tension strength does not appear to be impacted, the ability to withstand repeated handling and banging, is.

Here is the info on cold.

http://www.harvel.com/technical-supp...re-limitations

Again, cold is bad on impact and flexing; but the strength (support part of the design) is not effected. (May actually be "stiffer" when cold; but could snap in a wind).

We got the round foot pads welded on the 50 outer(lower) poles and I got the holes laid out and center punched on the 50 inner (upper) poles. Now, the job of drilling/chamfering 1700 holes. (34 holes on ea. pole) Should take at least 2-3 days as slow as I am. All the hardware should be here mid-late next week. Still have to go to Lowes and get (17) 10' lengths of 4" pvc and cut them for shipping tubes and a 1/2 sheet of 3/4" plywood for the end caps. Will have to take the tonneau cover off and take the hitch out to haul all of them.
