Did you put a different one on your truck? The manual says that hitch is part of the structural support for rear end collisions...

BTW, I am not trying to be a smarty pants. I just got my '14 and was reading the manual yesterday. I was surprised when I read that part about the hitch being part of the rear collision structure.

IMO, the factory hitch weight rating is too low for an SD.
A 12,500 lb trailer with 12% to 15% tongue weight will give me more than 1250 lb on the hitch.
I installed a Curt.
I'm going big, not home.

BTW, if someone hits me I'll get out and try to help them

Awesome! I was surprised it was not rated higher than it is. I have no plans for a tongue pull that big so I will leave mine be, but if I do, it is good to here Curt has a good hitch (my fifth wheel brackets and rails are Curt).
