Thumbs down 2014 Ford F250 Superduty

Bought a new 2014 Superduty in November of 2013. The truck currently has 4800 miles on it and has been in the garage now 3 times to replaced failed sensors on the DEF exhaust system required by the government. Seems Ford knows that they have an issue with trucks built after Oct 2013 but will only replace once sensor at a time. Called Ford Customer Relations to tell them that I wanted all of the sensor replaced at the same time to rule out any other problems. However, they told me that it would not be possible and that it is the recommended fix by the Ford Engineers. So, I told them to replace the sensor and the next time it breaks, they will have a BBB Autoline (Lemon Law) suite on their hands. Today, I looked at Ford's website to see that the new 2015 has re-designed exhaust sensors. So I guess Ford really knows that they have a problem, yet they want you to break down on the side of the road 4 times before all of the sensors get replaced!

I have owned multiple Ford products and this will be my last. Way to go Ford!

I have a 2010 f250 and I love it. I was considering a trade in for a newer model... Thanks for the tip!

According to Ford, they have a bad supplier that provide faulty pigtails that lead to the sensors that is causing the problems. Don't get me wrong, I love the truck, however, I don't like a company that knows they have a problem that won't do a recall to fix the problem. They did do a recall on ambulances so that they wouldn't have a lawsuit on their hands but left the everyday consumer stuck on the side of the road.

Yeah these sensor scare me a little. If one goes out of the bunch your left stranded. A lot of guys anti-seize them up when new and keep a spare in the truck with something to reset the code. Pain in da arse if you ask me. Damn emissions crap!

I keep a code reader and a spare in the truck. The EPA is making it difficult on the new diesels

I agree, however, I'm not sure I want to void my warranty at this point.

X2....but easy for us to recommend for someone to void warranty on a new $50K plus diesel truck...who knows what else may give him problems and having no warranty will really hurt the backside pretty good!

I did it with mine with 75,000 miles left on the engine warranty. I had a few repairs to hydroboost and tensioner. All were covered. Dealer left it tuned but confirmed that Spartan doesnt leave any mark in programming ehen removed. If I were to have had a major engine failure dealer was going to have me remove tune first and return DPF, CAT. If you leave it stock, the regeneration process destroys the motor from the inside out. The motor will make it to warranty period usually but then fail soon after. If you plan on keeping the truck much past 100k miles, i'd delete. Just me though and I speak from experience.

Lemon law to my knowledge has to be the exact same part failing multiple times. Not four different parts controlling the same system.
Pretty tough to get a lemon law to go thru im told "to many loopholes".

I think you have a dealer problem more than a Ford problem. A dealer service department should know how to push the repair through and get warranty to cover the repair the for whatever needs to be done in one trip. I would consult with another dealer. I have 4 ford large Ford dealers all within 20 minutes from me. I drive 44 minutes to a smaller Ford dealer that has one if the best service departments and quality Service Writers and Technicians. They work on more commercial trucks than cars. They know how do deal with issues that come up and the warranty claim process.

I also have a Ford problem. They only wanted to fix one thing at a time. Around me, I have nothing but bad service departments. No one is worth a hoot. I picked the lesser of evils.

Babygiz, it sounds like you need to visit your local Duramax dealer.

Can go both ways. Had terrible experiences with GM and Dodge. Win some, lose some. On our 3rd Ford duallie now, and never a problem. In the end, I'd consider any one of the three majors. Depends on what each is offering at the time. I'm not going to bash any of them too much, as they all have issues, just like anything built under Forest River's name.

Yet I am on my 4th F150 since 2003 and have had no issues what so ever. One of them was a work truck i just the heck out off driving off road to transmitter sites and getting stuck in the snow and mud. Owned 3 E 150 and one E250 Econoline vans/Club Wagons no issues either. The E250 had 300,000 km when I repaired the tranny, pretty good service for an ex FED EX van I put 200 k on before failing myself. Also a Ford Ranger and Bronco 2 with no service issues.
I don't think It matters what badge is on the front. Some people have issues others don't.

I had a similar issue with my 2013 Ford Fusion this past winter. The colder it got out (usually-1 or less) the car would overheat. Yep, it was fine in warm weather but it would overheat in cold weather. Anyway, I would bring it in and I would get the Ford engineering line and they could only do what they said and one at a time. Ended up leaving it at the dealer for 3 weeks and driving one of their rentals and they put over 1000 miles on my car to fix it. In the end, it was my dealer that had enough after the 2nd time it broke down on their guy at -18 and had to be towed back 40 miles away that they just decided to change some parts and fix it and then deal with Ford on the warranty coverage after. Seems that the issue was fixed and I didn't pay a dime. Just a shame they followed Fords system in the beginning and put way more miles on my car than was necessary. I still have the car and I love it. I won't be switching but I do feel Ford has a pretty messed up way of dealing with their customers for service.

I lemon'd a '12 F350 DRW Powerstroke last year. It was a royal pain in the rear but in the end, having a good attorney, it was made right. It was my choice to go with my current TV, Ram/Cummins. Mine was in the shop with less than 900 miles and never right from the beginning. I had 7 total visits and 33 days on rental cars within 12 months and Ford denied any issues with my truck even at the end. Anyways, lemon laws vary greatly between states. Check into it.

edit: Dont accept any extended warranty or any incentives Ford customer service sends you. Generally, accepting those will waive your rights to lemon law. This is what my attorney told me.
