On my 2010 Flagstaff 27 BHSS, which is a 31 foot and 6600 lb loaded TT, which was purchased June 2009, which has Carlisle Radial Trail 205-75-14 load range C tires on alum rims. Not to sound dumb but looking at the sidewall I found a small circle with 0809, to which I take as the tire was made Aug 2009 or is it Sep 2008. Also on the sidewall is TW1, AGKC and AQ21 DOT????

I have never had a problem with the tires, every spring when I bring the TT out of storage I will put 2-3 pounds of air in each to bring them up to the 50 psi rating. This season when I got it home I observed "C" shaped light cracks in the sidewall on the curb side tires and a crack following the rim on the driver side wheels. We debated replaceing them citing finances, but looking back we could have been that guy on the side of the highway with a pair of blown tires, deffinately need to replace for next year for nothing less than peice of mind.

What do the markings mean on the sidewall and which one indicates where made?

Definitely time to replace those tires! They were made in the 8th week of 09, not the 8th month, and trailer tires usually only last 3-5 years before they have lost most of their structural strength. AQ signifies made in China. As for the other info, this should help: http://www.discounttire.com/dtcs/infoSidewall.do

In regards to calling tires China Bombs.

Gashog's dictionary

CHINA BOMB [chahy-nuh bom] Tires made in China that don't have a top USA Tire Manufactures name backing it.

So I got some really fresh rubber made in Feb 09 but I guess the bad news I have been pushing my luck as I am on the 7th season with my set! The Discount tire web page was very informative.

Discount Tire and Carlisle Tires

I just bought a set of E range 16's due to China Bomb tread separations (3 at the same time). Discount Tire told me they don't even stock D range in Texas. Trading down to rig with 15's and will have to install E range Carlisle ($109 each) and run them slightly under inflated as they are rated much heavier than the max. trailer weight. Maxxis D range were $149 each and speed rating was less.

If you can't drive speed limit, you are a speed bump.

You'll be very happy with the Carlisle's. They are rated max psi oh 80. I run mine at 50.

Speed Bump

I did discover the rims are rated for max. of 65 PSI per another poster who got that gossip from the rim supplier at a rally. Nothing like good information. This same person runs his E range at 70 psi and says fudge factor on the rims is 10 percent over 65???? Oh well!

Going straight to Discount Tire from dealer if I have the time. Lawn Service guys need tires too!

I check the air pressure before every trip and have no issue with our stock Karrier Load Star tires mounted on aluminum rims. I assume these are considered "China Bombs", they have performed very well, and still look and feel good on inspection.

They are in the fifth year and i will replace them soon. Being a 14" tire / rim, finding a quality replacement may be tough.

Some Carlisle 205 75 R14 Tires are made in USA. WalMart carries the US made ones $63 per tire. I will be getting these after first of year.
