Garmin RV 760LMT - Announced

I purchased a Magellan and wasn't happy with it one bit (I gave it a negative review in the forum). Looking for a new one to purchase, Garmin just announced / released a new one: RV GPS | Garmin RV 760LMT

So, I just purchased it and am awaiting my delivery. Once I have it, I plan on using it to my trip to Washington D.C. in a couple of weeks. Once I have used it, I will update this posting with my formal review.

Hi Chris- that looks like a great unit. Love the pet-friendly feature. I've used Garmins in vehicles, plane and on the motorcycle, and they've never let me down. Once in a while they do take you on a roundabout route that a local wouldn't do, but hey- finding new places is part of the experience, right?

I didn't see if the unit came with lane-assist, but that's a wonderful feature when you're in unfamiliar territory.

I did not notice lifetime updates.
I did like the rear view camera feature.

Straight from their website from the link I posted above under 7:50 AM:

" RV 760LMT comes with free lifetime traffic3 so we knew what was happening, even without listening to the radio. At one point, traffic was so bad, our “guide” suggested an alternate route. RV 760LMT has free lifetime maps4, too –"

Garmin had to add lifetime update to all their products to compete with tomtom

For what it's worth, a friend of mine has had a couple of Garmin car units and has loved them both. I'm hoping this RV-oriented unit has the same ease of use and reliability that my friend has experienced.

Apparently its just a RV focused DEZL 760 which is regarded as the best trucking/RV GPS already. It should be a good unit, all the Garmins I have used over the years worked pretty good. There is a RV GPS article at DIY RV that recommends it next to the RVND 7720 from Rand McNally. It seems that the Garmin 760 has alot more features and options than the Rand. Which always suits me.

GREAT update! I ordered mine on June 27th, 2013 from their website. The website states that they're in "pre-order" however when I put it in my shopping cart, it stated that they're "In Stock". So, I put a 2 day rush shipping on it so I'd have it for my Washington D.C. trip this coming weekend. All week I watched the order status as "In Progress" so I decided to call them today.

Well, it's as I thought... they were in pre-order however they start shipping on July 11th or that's when mine is being shipped. I told the Garmin rep that I was already going to be on the road and if she could ship to a different address. She saw the issue from "pre-order to in-stock" so she said she'd ship it for free. After we went through the calendar, unfortunately, I was leaving WashDC the day the 2 day shipping would hit. So, she upgraded me to overnight shipping getting it on the 12th!!! GRAND SLAM!!! I have to say I'm already happy with Garmin's customer service and I haven't even received the device yet!! :-) I'll post a review on the 12th (this coming Saturday) if all goes well!
