In about 5 years only 2 faults with the RV 760. The same 2 with every other unit by other manufacturers too.

Diito on Capn' Johns comments...very reliable in general. Given that this is a new unit I suggest.
1. Don't rely on built in points of interest like campground locations. These are not supplied/checked by Garmin and a small error in the POI database can put you in a cul de sac...not a campground. Use the actual address of the campground and double check location on your smart phone.
2. Definitely get the map update.
3. Check your entered preferences in the set up screens to avoid being routed incorrectly...avoiding tolls, avoiding highways etc as preferences can cause problems AND if they have no info on one road...they'll put you on one they know will not be a problem. Again...check the route in your smart phone google maps set for a car and note any differences and if they seem reasonable. Alternatively...set your unit to car mode and see where the route changes and if it makes sense.

Just last week in a rural told me to turn later than a road I knew would get me there more quickly and had no tunnels and I had seen larger trucks on in the past...but in several places the overhanging trees forced me to drive in the middle of the road to avoid being scratched. Lesson learned!

I did the updates and went back a second time for update checks to be sure. I have not even tried the POI little scared now.

Gives you a warning for "sharp curves ahead" when it's a slight curve at BEST but NO warning at the real sharp curves. RR track warnings after you have crossed them.

Now the latest, we were 4 miles from a place just was not sure if it was north or south of us. So I put into the GPS it says go 8 miles south. Second guessing myself I went the 8 miles south then it says to make U turn go north 10 mi. We passed 10 or crossovers could have U turned at any of them, but no it picks the one crossover where posted "no truck U turns". Concrete curbing all around no way you U turn with TT. Are you kidding me right now?
I have the 760 and have similar problems. On one occasion it wanted me to go down the interstate for approx 8 miles, make a U turn and come back 8 miles and take the off ramp. It has done this on the RV mode and auto mode. Othertimes it makes you go around the block instead of continuing straight down the road or puts your location on the wrong side of the road. Well as they say, it is only a tool to assist. It has saved me from going down a road that had a low bridge and no place to turn around. I would say that it is approx 95% accurate. Now when we put in a destination, we check the map on the screen and directions to see that it is bringing us correctly, without detours, to our destination.
