Yamaha Generator

Hello all;
Just wanted to put out a quick review for our new generator. I recently bought a Yamaha EF2400ICH to power my Surveyor during some upcoming dry camping. (besides I wanted one badly!)

My main criteria was that it could run my 13000 btu AC in a pinch and I could lift it solo. It did start and run my AC in the yard on a 90deg day! I had to make sure every thing else big draw was off. It's dry weight
is 75#s which is about my lifting limit, but it does have nice big padded handles that are helpful and easy for 2 people to carry the unit.

My only complaints which are minor is that is is difficult to put oil in, I over filled it once and had to drain it out (dumb me). The other is that it is strange that it is promoted as a RV generator with no 30 amp outlet. I put a double 110 to 30 amp plug adapter which worked fine.

In low draw mode it was very quiet, I ended up leaving it in my pickup bed which made it quieter!

Does what it says, I am happy !

brownie, I bought the EF2400is for some of the same reasons you did. I wanted it to run my 13,500 BTU AC, plus I want to be able to lift it into and around in my truck bed. 75 lbs. is manageable, but don't know for how long.

When stating on generator power:

Charge the batteries some 1st so the on-board battery charger may be at the lower stage.

Turn your fridge to gas only. If it is on automatic, then once you plug in your generator, the fridge will automatically switch to 110 volts.

Run the AC fan up to speed 1st. That might also charge the AC capacitor, eliminating that load, also.

The oil fill is the only complaint that I have with mine. I did the overfill thing 1 time also. I took a straw and did a bunch of "pipettes" to get the extra oil out......but made a bit of a mess.

It just amazes me that that generator costs $500 more here in Canada.

Nice!

We purchased a Honda 2000 (?)

Works for our needs -- but we don't need the AC on our dry camping trips.

I that were the case, we should have purchased one of those yamaha 2400 beauties!
