palomino ss550 and step bracket

Last week bought a SS 550, camped over the 4th, so far real happy with purchase. Took possession same day we took off, so didn't have chance to install the torklift steps that came with it. Just kinda tied them to the pickup bumper and it worked fine for the weekend.

Now, was gonna install the bracket onto the camper, but am hesitant to drill holes and install right beneath the door. Is this camper meant to have the "glow step mounting bracket" mounted right below the door? I see a note in the installation instructions that warns about not installing on northern lite campers.

Thanks!

Will

Hi Will...we just bought the same here in Canada a few months ago and have enjoyed some days so far with it. The bracket came pre-installed on the back of our camper just below the door. I can take a picture if you want but my recollection is that it is drilled into the frame of the camper with three or four screws. This is essentially a flat piece of metal with each end bent perpendicular to the back of the camper. Each end has a hole where we mount the stairs to with a metal pin secured with a hitchpin. So the bracket is mounted to camper, stairs obviously come off each time.

By the way, any idea where the hot water bypass is on the camper to winterize? I had a look under the step up to the bed and can't see it there...am guessing it must be hidden behind a panel or maybe we don't have one??

Thanks!

Paul

Thanks for the reply Paul.

Right after I posted earlier, I went ahead and installed it ... I was just hesitant to drill holes in my brand new camper not being sure it was right. Had to buy different bolts because I didn't want to use the lag screws that came with it. Have used it several times since, it works great and all seems well.

Sounds like you got your answer about the by pass, was good for me to read also.
