SS1251 on Long Bed.

Can I put a 1251 on an 8' bed? I realize the 1251 is designed for the short bed but I was wondering if I get creative and cut into the drop down portions and reroute plumbing etc, will I be able to move the camper closer to the front of the truck? It's the small drop down section that I will need to adapt.
The reason I want to do that is, there are many used 1251's available around here but no 1500's.
I have a Ram 3500 long bed.
Thanks!

I looked at doing it and I don't think it would be too hard. The black and gray drain lines and greater valves would need to be relocated. If it has the short need storage compartments those would need to be removed.
