Truck Camper Weights

Really confused about the weight of truck camper I can carry. Have a 2012 Ram 2500 Diesel Crew Cab 4x4. Dealer says I can haul a Palomino HS 2902 which is just shy of 3000 lbs. Chrysler says payload is 2190 lbs.
What gives? Love to get the 2902, but is weight going to be an issu?
Thanks

Palomino RV - Manufacturer of Quality RVs since 1968

Weight will be an issue and will exceed the carrying capacity by 30% and that is with no additional equipment, water, stuff, kids, dog etc etc

Dealer just wants to sell. You have to decide if it's safe and prudent. (I'm not saying that negatively whether it is or isn't.)

I would run from that dealer. I noticed that the ac is an option, probably not in the dry weight. When a dealer suggests this he is risking your life and limb and everyone else on the road to make a buck.

Payload is your limit for a truck camper. Maybe he thought you were speaking of a tow-behind.

Looks like that camper would be a bit much for your truck. I'd look elsewhere and maybe find a lighter rig or think about a tt. Later RJD
