2004-2005 ford f-150 recall

Has been on the news, Internet now my local newspaper, Ford is recalling
1.2 million F150's made in 2005, 2005 and part of 2006 that may have defective airbags. It also includes 16000 2006 Lincoln LT pickups.

An electrical short can cause air bags to deploy unexpectedly, in some cases injuring drivers.

A wire in the steering column can become chafed, causing a short circuit and the air bag to deploy.

The repair takes less than 1/2 day to fix.

The F-250-F350 is not included in the recall.

From report I saw, the airbag warning light would come on for about a month before any accidental deployment took place. Government insisted that a recall happen. Nothing to do with the adverse public relations problem for a Government Motors competitor of course..............

I believe , only the trucks built in VA are included in this recall ... Not %100 sure though as I read it in a Ford forum ...

I am going to ask my dealer regardless .... The last thing I need is an airbag go off when I am bulleting down to FLA at 90 mph !

P.S. Gotcha all, I do NOT drive at 90 mph

Well, my 2006 was made in Norfolk, and was an early model (Nov. 2005), so I won't be surprises when I get my recall notice. I would be surprised if the airbag goes off unexpectantly.

It looks like the original recall was for trucks from the Norfolk plant, but was expanded to include the Dearborn and Kansas City plants.

Oh, so it now includes Dearborn too ? Hmmm, I am definitely asking my dealer before my May trip then ....

Thanks for clarifying that ....

My understanding was that Dearborn or Kansas City F150s are OK.

Maybe OK, but the Feds decided to include those in the recall also.

I am definitely not doing anything near the airbags ever .... Those things cost an arm and a leg to replace ....Not to mention the potential injury they might cause.
