2008 Cherokee lite Plastic Wheel bearing covers

I have a 2008 Cherokee lite 28A+and one of the plastic wheel bearing dust covers has broken. Can you put normal dust covers over the wheeel bearings? Why did they cheap out on the wheel bearing covers? Any body else had isues?

If it fits, you should be good to go. It's only a dust cover after all.

On our curent Cherokee I replaced the black plastic dust covers with full chrome covers (covers the hub and lug nuts) and a chrome trim ring. really finishes off the look of the trailer.

Under the big covers there are plastic covers right on the bearings. They are held in with o-rings. I have one that is broke a d would like to replace with metal if possible

Can you post a pic? I think we all may be talking about different things, and a photo will help clear up the confusion. AFAIK, the dust caps are all stamped metal, and pretty much just hammered on the hub. Almost all brake drum and hub assemblies are the same, either 10" or 12", and FR wouldn't have a reason to put something exotic on your trailer.

Take another axle bearing cap off and take it to a (NAPA) store. They can supply you with (4) STEEL ones! Youroo!!

Before I start pounding in steel ones I want to make sure the hubs are not only designed for the plastic o-ring type and destroy the hubs by hammering in steel.

OK, I now know what you are talking about. I have seen these before. I thought they were just rubber/plastic coated thin steel? not sure if you can put in the all metal ones. good luck!

The plastic covers are made by LCI I can't find them anywhere

I have since found out these are Lippert axles the grease dust covers are stamped LCI. I looked on the lippert website and they don't carry those type of cover anymore. Not sure what I'm going to do know
