Our awning will dump water once enough gathers on the top. It's a gallon or two before the spring action will tilt the one end and the water dumps off. You don't want to be near it, unless you're into cold drenching showers. We keep everything away from that corner of the awning to keep it from getting soaked if it does rain. It is a standard feature on the electric awnings.
