2012 Georgetown

I'm attaching a couple of pictures of our 2012 Georgetown, hoping to find out which valve to turn to empty the fresh water tank. I've talked to others on this web site, but their water valves are located next to their propane tank. Why doesn't forest river put this in their manual? It says nothing about this compartment.

IMO, the GT "manuals" are only good for fire-starters. I got every piece of documentation on our 02 from the original owner. The generic owner's manual refers to a "model-specific" manual, but there's no sign of one in my documents.

I have the same setup in my coach. Those valves have nothing to do with draining your fresh water tank; they shut off access from the water pump. To drain the fresh water tank, you will need to open one of the plugs on the tubes underneath that compartment. If you look under your coach, you will see 5 tubes. The red and blue tubes together are the low-point drains for your hot and cold water lines respectively. The large tube with the screen is the overflow tube. The fresh water drain is one of the blue tubes alongside the overflow tube.

2012 Georgetown Drainage

Thank you for your reply. I'm glad that you know about this stuff. Forest River should have offered that information in their manual. Thanks again for the info.

No problem, I had to find that out for myself. Sometimes, that's the only way.

I've included a picture of the hoses on the bottom

So, just wondering..... what the other blue hose is for? There are two blue hoses with the screen.

Don't really know, but my best guess is that it may be the fridge drain.

Strange enough, i just called a tech from dealer where i bought our 2012 378, i got 3 hoses back there, one is fresh water tank overflow ( screened ) so tech says there is no place other than the blue hoses to drain fresh water, an so i did .However an i looked back thur the conversations an i don't see this mention, Lp tank has an electric, i'll call switch on front of my tank, what i believe it to be is an electric shut off if sniffer in coach goes off, mine is hot to touch, in fact very hot, is everyone else like that ? thanks for reading

You are correct about the solenoid valve for the propane tank. It is electrically controlled through the LP Leak Detector. It will be warm to the touch since it's activated and pulled to the open position. If you're not using your propane for any period of time you could turn off the Leak Detector and the valve will close and cool down. However should a leak occur the alarm is disabled. I know the solenoid valve gets warm but it should not be too hot to touch.

Thanks for your input, i just went out to check to be sure of what i'm saying, you can not hold your hand on solenoid valve for 2 seconds without getting burned. There is no shut off for it, understandably so, so i'm thinking cut wire an when use it twist it back togther, til at least i travel back to dealer before yrs up, so far we haven't had any real issues, except dinning table fell apart ... we haven't used any LP, so i always keep tank shut off, would you agreee with that ? Thanks again

If you turn off the propane detector it should de-energize the solenoid. When store mine or it's not being used I usually close the propane valve at the tank and turn off the detector.

On my 2011 300FWS, the other blue hose comes off the discharge side of the water pump. This would be the pressurized side of the water system, prior to it splitting off to cold and water heater input

yes i guess so, only button on it is for test ... its a two in one deal, carbon monoxide an LP an is hard wired.. think i'll snip wire at solenoid at LP tank, and when i use it or heater i'll twist back tohther for now, my concern is if it's too hot to hold figures on for two seconds it must also be pulling alot of juice ...

ok gang i got one.
2012 /378 . power awning ( main ) 20' long .. we all know wind an rain is the enemy . i'm out camping at lake, rainy day, when it stopped i thought i'd put out awning .. now domentric doesn't give you alot to go on for instructions with unit, so it starts to drizzle i don't think much about it, later on wife is sitting on sofa enjoying a glass of wine, i hear mac, mac .. i say yes dear, awning, awning .. it just tilted, an sure enough it must of accumulated some water, now reading an looking around on utube an such, there are models that do that , an when the water drains it goes back to original position, can any 2012/378 owners verify that this is whats designed to happen..... thanks
