30 amp male 3 prong twist lock

Just bought a 2005 trailer that has a male 3-prong twist lock for the 30-amp hook up in the side of the trailer. Is this normal??? I have the receptacle out now and it says Marinco 30 amp shore power inlet. Do I need to change it to a 30-amp receptacle with the 2 spades and 1 round ground or is there a cable I can get that would have the female 3-prong twist lock at the trailer end?

Yes this is normal....you need to get an extenison cord ( 25 feet app)at an RV dealer or make your own.

well if you have it out
and do not mind changing it
I think that I would change it to
a more widely used type

our trailer uses the same three prong as yours
at the cheaper and easy to get to stores
such as (WallMart does not carry these)
I bought the adapter as shone above
at our local RV dealer and repair store
it was his last one
and he acted like it was a special day for me
just because I found one

The round plug is actually the standard 120VAC/ 30amp plug. Note on generators that this is the plug used. The same type plug is used in recreation boats. You don't have to use the "expensive" plugs sold at camping stores. Most hardware stores carry the 30amp twist plug. Buying a pre made cord will cost ya. I have bought the 3 prong female twists, kept them on hand, and when a plug gets burned from a poor connection, I cut off the "RV" female plug from the cord and replace it with the twist. The round twist plug is safer as it is fully seated and locked. It is less likley to be a partial connection, causing high amps and possible fire. I'm willing to bet the future will be all round twist lock plugs.

I have never used it
but yes
I think the twist type came on our Cat 22 sailboat
this makes me yet wonder ever more
regarding the RV shop down the mountain
them not thinking highly regarding the twist plug
I have had repairs done
on our older motor home down there
results were so so for the money spent
just another good reason to be on this site
hopefully
if and when something breaks down
I can repair it myself
or at least have some sound advice
to draw on

heading out in our trailer in a few days
Christmas day we are out of here
looking forward to that
if anyone ever get's to southern Ca
Borrego Springs we think to be God's country
((plenty)) of free dry camping places
jeeping, hiking, bicycle riding
