4 Pin Connector on back of Trailer Bumper

My question is, is it easier to run a 4 Pin connector from the trailer lights on the back of the trailer or run a 4 pin connector from my truck along the rails of the trailer to the back of the bumper.......

Lights on the back of the trailer in my case for sure. The light pigtails are inside the cabinets and all that needs to be done is drill a small hole for the wires and caulk the hole.
