50 Amp Home Wiring

I have this switch I would like to mount next to the 50amp outlet for my RV. I know I can turn power on and off to the outlet with the breaker in the building but would like the convience of controlling the power near the outlet.

Is this the proper box for the job? I am running 6/3 w/grd through this switch. Do I just tie the neutral wires together inside the box and terminate the neutral at the outlet? The same with the ground? As you see this box only controls the two hot wires going to the outlet.

John

John, is this a typo, perhaps?

Your 16/3 wire is undersized for a 50 amp service.

The disconnect will work fine you want to splice the neutral and bond the ground to the box.

This is a disconnect. Are you feeding this from a 50 amp double breaker?

50 amp

The disconnect should be fine. Just bond your grounds to the box and tie the neutrals together. Your number 6 wire is the correct size for your 50 amp circuit.
