Since the unit is probably out of warranty, if it is an electronic issue like a $25 capacitor versus a compressor or freon issue, fixing it is probably less costly then replacing.

Put the fan on either hi or low but without the thermostat set for cool. Just the fan. Does the fan run or does or does it hum? If it hums, the problem is the fan motor or capacitor.

Chinese/Dometic Connection

We parked our 2015 Nitro in Deadwood last Sept. Turned on the air and left our 2 dogs inside to stay cool. Returned to find 98 degree temps as the "new" Dometic had failed. Have seen claims that a QC problem at the factory produced a series of bad AC's - nearly killed our dogs and ruined our trip. I'm saving this thread. If it dies again I'll be up on the roof checking capacitors with my multimeter! My thanks to those sharing their expertise and experience! We now wait to see if the AC blows cold before leaving.
