A Fresh Perspective on Winterizing
Hardcore RV winterizing is not a big thing down in my parts as real hard freezes are a rarity. However, like much of the country, over the next few days we will be experiencing that rare hard freeze. I have several friends with trailers so my portable air tank and hose fitting have been making the rounds blowing out RV water lines all across the Coastal Bend, and Wal-Mart finally sold a few gallons of the pink stuff.
I was talking to one friend of mine, who I thought was an experienced RV owner, about winterizing his rig. His response?
"My trailer was already winterized when I bought it 4 years ago."
I'm rarely at a loss for words, this was one of those times.

Well duh. Aren’t they all?! That’s why Wally World never sells the pink stuff. It’s already done. Nuff said.

We haven't had an above freezing day in a few weeks with a quite a number of sub zero temperatures. Even though it's far too late to do anything about it, occasionally I will run through the winterization steps I performed back in October in my head hoping there was nothing I forgot.

I bet you his dealer told him that when he did his PDI... ..."We did it for you, you never have to worry about that again!"

Wow why didn't I think of that? Would save me a couple of hours twice a year. Question. Did he de-winterize it before using it the first time or just have awful tasting water for the first 10 trips or so?

That's a good one....and mine still has a sticker on it from when I picked it up last March that says "This unit is winterized" or something like that. I tried peeling it off but it's a real sticker (not Post-It style) so just left it rather than dealing with removing all the adhesive. Every time I looked at that sticker I wondered if anyone ever got fooled - now I know!! Like a broken clock, the sticker is now correct for a few months.

Mine's winterized, it's sitting outside with snow on it now.

What?
I asked a friend of mine a few weeks ago if had winterized his TT (when we were expecting 20's in DFW). His response was "do I need to winterize if I'm taking it out again in a few weeks"?
What?
