AC will not run

First off let me say this help is needed for a SOB. Brother bought a 2011 Tiffin Motorhome. Bought in Charleston and drove to my house in Winston Salem area several weeks ago. He is coming Sunday to drive it to Chicago where he lives. Everything went well on trip here. Ran generator and front AC to help cool while driving. Today I thought I would check everything out and found that the front AC was not working. (Coleman Mach "polar" style heat pump) Testing on generator, like when we drove it here. Back AC runs fine. Front AC which is also a heat pump will not even run the fan. I did find a tripped breaker for the AC. Don't know why that is. A question I have is will the fan run even if it may be low on freon. Maybe something wrong with the transfer switch. I have plugged it in to keep batteries charged.
Any ideas?

Freon has no effect on the fan with that said if the compressor is tripping the brakee you will not get power to the compressor or fan, they both run off the same contactor. Make sure you actually have power going to the unit.

Thanks. Ya, on my camper the fan will run if you switch the thermostat for the fan to ON. Breaker doesn't trip any more. Just found it tripped once when I first started to investigate. Today I'll do some voltage measurements. Also see if the compressor runs even though the fan isn't.

Thanks

All systems do that. If the compressor runs without the fan the unit will freeze up. You will get no cold air.

There is a forum for Tiffin owners at A Part of the TiffinRVNetwork ‚ÄĘ Index page where you might be able to get more information. It is a wealth of information on Tiffin motorhomes along with all the various chassis used in Tiffin motorhomes. It is similar to the FR forum in that it is owners and is not connected to Tiffin. You might find what you are looking for on that site. Good Luck!

www.tiffinrvnetwork.com

Hope it comes through this time.

Thanks everyone. It is fixed. Darned starting capacitor for the circulation fan. Lost a little time when the breaker on the generator tripped and I didn't know it and was testing without power. Bought a new capacitor locally and all is good. Thanks for all of your help.

Now back to my Rockwood.
