Accidental Damage to siding

While travelling to Texas someone sideswiped our 2013 Windjammer 3008W The WJ was parked at a few truck stops unattended and the damage wasn't noticed until later. The vehicle struck the front door and swiped along the WJ for about ten feet almost to the back door. Tore of the moulding over the tires and the scratch dug deep through the exterior. We are able to use the WJ, but, will have to be fixed when we return. Looks to me that the entire side will have to be replaced. Anyone ever had a side replaced?

There have been some V nose owners on here that have had the non-door side replaced because of stress cracks at the main slideout, so yes, it's possible.

You should take it to your dealer for an assessment. Have your reported it yet to the insurance company?

Dave

IMO, once you get in touch with your insurance company, I would insist on the repair be done at the factory even if I had to make up the difference out of pocket. This is not a job for your local body shop.

That would definantly be the way to go, if the factory will do it.

Sorry about your damage, I'm sure you were sick when you realized it was there. Best of luck!!!

I had my side replaced last fall at the factory and looks like new again. Wall has to be replaced as the work done at a body shop will not compare to a new one. This is the only route to go if you want to be happy with the results. Sorry to hear about your mishap.

Damn. Sorry to hear of your damage. Factory repair would be the way to go imho.

An estimate of the damage was under $7,000. We are getting the job done at the RV Dealer where we purchased the WJ. They have a lot of experience. If we don't like it, that's another story. Most of the damage is light surface except for the front door and a deep 10' scratch along the side. By the way, we picked up two extendable mirrors with the signal flashers. Getting rid of the Mckesh mirrors which I hated.
