I carried a 3 gallon pancake compressor by Porter Cable for a long time. It required 120v, so I could only use it at campsites and stuff (no generator). I recently found it cannot top my 125psi tires up any longer; so I'm upgrading to a 12v Viair 450P.

12v Motor Trend portable,(free with subscription!!) Weighs about 2lb. Will pump to 250 psi but takes all day!!!! I use it for bike tires and inflatables. It takes 1 hour to put 2psi in a 19.5" tire.

Got a Viair and I think 2 or 3 gallon tank installed in tool box with ventilation. Put a QD on the running board and carry a 50' hose that'll reach all truck and trailer tires. Comes in handy for those tires, bike tires, pool toys and other things, plus runs the train horns. Controlled by the factory dash switches.

I carry a 50ft air hose which will reach my trailer tires hooked up to the truck. And I have run air power tools too..... Love my Grovers

Gotta love the air horns. I second the idiot comment steelpony. Houston and Atlanta come to mind.

Just bought this one Slime 2X Heavy Duty Tire Inflator - Walmart.com. Also got a plug set, just in case. Hope I never have to use it.

OMG steelpony, I've never driven in Houston; if it's worse than Philly then I'll never drive in Houston. Lol

In the last 4 months, we have driven from Maryland to Florida to Atlanta to Detroit to Chicago to Branson, MO to Kansas City to Colorado to Moab, UT and now into Las Vegas (and having driving Baltimore, DC and Philadelphia in the past) and I can surmise one thing: Drivers of all areas suck, are aggressive, and are scarily distracted. (Not all drivers in those areas- but each one has their own fair share.)

I have two different sized SLIME compressors. One small [7"x 7"x 3''] and one larger unit that comes in it's own case. It's about 1' x 1' x 8" and can pump to 200psi and does it right quick. I've had both units for several years and used them many times from TT tires to motorcycle tires.
If I remember correctly, the small unit was $20 and the big one was $69.

I just gave my 6hp, 60-gallon set-up to my son. He bought me a Porter-Cable 3-gallon unit (120VAC, 150 psi, weighs 30 lbs.). I think he got the better deal, but I'm not building aluminum airplanes or painting cars anymore, so I didn't need it. I also got a bottle of Maker's 46 out of the deal... I carry an air tank that will fill any tire I have... once... and a plug kit for the trailer.
