Are Westlake Tires any good?

We've got about 8500 miles on our Westlakes, little sign of wear and running fine. We seldom go over 60, max speed ever is 65. Its okay for folks to pass us, we are not in a hurry.

I have at least 23,000 on my Westlake tires. Age and weight are issues but they seem fine on my 30 month old 21ft FRBS FLAGSTAFF.
Only problem an occasional nail or screw.

The OP has about 8000-10,000 miles on them and they look like new. So we're debating if they're any good? Hmmm.

Our W&P had Westake E rated tires. The best E rated tire I've ever had. They aren't even in the same category as the old TowMax tires. I also had over 8K and they looked great.

I had G614s put on our Vengeance but if I was going with E tires, it would certainly be Westlakes. Forest River uses them a lot.

10k on my Westlakes in the last year. I keep them at 80psi, VERY rarely run over 65mph - and then for only a short (minutes) time. Absolutely no problems, and they still look brand new.

Have several thousand on mine, they look and run great so far. Max psi and never run above 65 mph.

I got about 1500 miles out of my set. always properly inflated but they still wore out fast. Good luck. Replaced with good year.

Have westlake D load rated set. Only had them for a year but have had no issues and no reason to swap out with something else. Will probably upgrade to load range E like others have mentioned when the time comes. One thing I really liked about the GY Marathons I had on my last trailer, they had a thicker belt on the sides that would presumably help with accidental curb contacts. The WL treadwear is in line with my expectations for last season (2000-3000 miles).

We have a Flagstaff 27RLWS with Westlake tires, and have about 18,000 mi. on them, including a trip up the ALCAN Highway. We haven't had any problems, but have TPMS on them, and I only have to add air or nitrogen about twice a year. They usually run at about 100 degrees F. and I have them at 55 PSI. They have used 1/3 of the tread, when compared to the original spare.

West Lake tires came as original equipment on the Solaire and this will be the fourth season on them. They look great and have about 1/2 of the tread wear left with about 12,000 miles on them. I had to replace the valve stems after the first year as they were all cracked. I keep them inflated to max pressure.

I'm old...... and don't always remember things correctly... but... It seems I read that Forest River owns Westlake tire and have made their own quality demands a touch higher than the old TowMax tires they were buying. Mine came with TowMax, and didn't last nearly that well. If you guys are getting 12K miles out of them with no problems, I wouldn't worry about them. Maxxis are almost all made in Asia, but mostly not in China. Mine were made in Thailand, I think.

Yea, I watch the pressure really close. That makes sense (FR owning Westlake), Either way I'm pleasantly surprised at the good reviews on Westlake. I read so many post about blowouts and Chinese cra_p tires, I was wondering if I'm sitting on 4 time bombs. I inspected them today and with about 10K, I can see very little if any wear, no cracks etc..

Probably the best rotation for trailer tires is from side to side to offset road crown.

I had Westlakes on my 2013 Sabre. Had a flat in Dawson City Yukon last summer. The mechanic liked Westlakes and felt they were a very good tire which made me more comfortable about them after reading the China reports in this forum. Well I had almost 20K on them and was hoping to return from Florida before replacing them but had a blow out on the way to Florida and replaced all 4 tires. I would probably purchase Westlakes again but would rather try the Maxxis or Goodyears first.

For what it's worth we have Westlake E tires on our 5er and had a blowout last October. I have no idea what caused it, but it blew apart with no warning from TPMS. I put a spare on it and have about 300 miles on the other 3 Westlake tires (getting 4 new tires soon) with no issues. When I look at the Westlake tires vs the cheap spare that is on it the Westlake looks more "beefy". The sidewall appears to be stiffer, so maybe a higher quality tire than the random china junk???
