As seen on TV - Pocket hose

Well, as our first year and only 13 days of camping are behind us... I'm looking at carrying more and using less space (in the basement). Last year I had 125' of white hose and am looking at purchasing the newer flat white hose that is on rolls. Also, I was thinking of pulling the 100' of green hose that I use for tank cleaning (fitting on side of CC to put water in black tank) and going with this new Pocket Hose that is sold everywhere. Space savings would be beneficial but I'm not sure about the quality. Any thoughts?

I have a couple of these hoses and so far so good....That being said, the light green one sprung a leak yesterday, I keep that one in my garage and suspect it was defective as none of of the others have caused me problems. Of note, they don't shrink back to package size, but small enough I keep it stored in a flower pot.

go to Google,look up pocket hose,read the reviews and decide. seems this hose is not to dependable along with the other 2 that are advertised on tv.

The hose looks good and is very lightweight, got it a week ago for my next trip. Haven't used yet. Next trip in two weeks!
And is not safe for drinking water!

Thanks for the info. I'm aware that mostly "as seen" items are not as they should be. I will look at the reviews. We're taking Big Ben out in about 8 days for a 12 nighter.

The thing that people seem to complain about them the most is the plastic fittings. There's one called the X-Hose Pro that has metal fittings. It's more expensive, but seemingly fixes that one issue.

Otherwise, they're not drinking water safe and aren't designed to replace your white hose.

Thanks on the pro info. Yes I knew they weren't for drinking water, I'm looking at flat white roll ups from my dealer (with of course the DW discount). I was looking at the pocket hoses for the blank tank flushing.

I've had a few family members but the Pocket Hose from Bed, Bath and Beyond. Mostly happy with the exception of one recently breaking.

We own 3. One is used for sewer flush other 2 are in our garden at home. We have both 25 ft and 50 ft sizes. Work pretty well and light weight. We did break a plastic fitting but still usable. It's pretty cool to watch it shrink as the water runs out.

i bought one of the blue ones and so far, it works great at home.
plan to take it with us on our next camping trip. also plan on using it for the black tank flush wand.

We have one of the flat white roll up hoses and really like it. Quit using it for water since it is only 1/2". Great for washing stuff off and flushing black tank. If I find a 5/8" diameter one I may get it to use for water supply. Buy the 50' one it only costs a little more and takes up just a little more space.

The white fabric flat hoses are great. We use it on non potable water use only and while I only have a 10' one, it rolls up to about the size of my fist. Great for flushing out the black tank.

I bought 2-25' white plastic roll up kind from WM. Never again. First one sprung a leak after leaving hooked up to the water spigot overnight. It couldn't handle the pressure at the site. Looked lie a snake that just swallowed an egg.

The other would randomly blow out like the first one. I kept cutting out the bad spots, and now it's15' max.

My personal opinion is that due to the folding action, the plastic is too soft. It cracks at the fold and the web inside thats supposed to prevent the thing from swelling up, is too weak.

Are these the canvas type hoses? If they are the same brand as camping world they have a warranty and will replace them.

Here is the one we got from camping world. They are rated up to 450 psi and have had no problems in 4 years with it.

Of course now that I have recommended it you do realize if you buy one it will swell and bust and a piece fly off and break a window.

I have one of the 50' rollup hoses that I keep in the camper for "just in case" situations. They are great! Had a couple years ago and used them constantly with no problems ever. On the other hand, my wife bought a pocket hose and it developed pin hole leaks within an hour of using it. She still uses it, you just have to be careful where you stand!

I have been keeping my eyes out for a good deal on the canvas roll up ones. In reality, we rarely have sites with hookups. When we did, I always had an issue at some point with the water hoses. I now carry 2 - 25' garden style potable water hoses. what a pain to store.

By the way, I use a pressure regulator, but a cheapo. I'll place it at the spigot and then the hose to the camper's water fitting.
